Using a spray gun, liquid soil is applied from a distance of 25 cm. It is important to maintain the correct consistency of the composition. Liquid soil causes defects.

- Second layer. The procedure corresponds to the previous stage, only now you should especially carefully monitor the uniformity of paint coverage. All stripes must overlap each other. The disc is dried for 20–30 minutes.
- Finishing layer. When the paint has acquired its final strength, it needs to be treated with a varnishing compound. It is recommended to varnish 2 times, but 1 coat is sufficient. Varnish takes longer to dry than paint, about 18–24 hours.
If you want to improve the appearance, you can polish the top. The color with a matte effect looks attractive. Discs that glow at night have an extraordinary design. The luminous composition is relatively expensive.

- Sandpaper of two types, sand on dry - 250-grit (two leaves) and on wet - 800-grit (two leaves).
— 300 grams of primer for aluminum.
— 200 grams of car paint based on wheel size 15.
We go to the offices for the selection of auto paint, because... we don't need large volumes. We buy paint without selection (it’s cheaper). - Solvents.
At the paint selection, you will be poured the necessary solvents in small quantities. — 300 grams of varnish + hardener.

- Masking tape. - Preparing the ground is the most labor-intensive task in all the work. - We divide the covering film into eight parts (twice four) and, wrapping our wheels, cut out a hole for the disk. We glue the film to the rubber with tape at the very edge of the disc.
- We dilute the primer and use a spray bottle to prime our wheels. You can always borrow a small compressor and a spray bottle from friends for a couple of days.
- After the soil has dried (usually the next day), remove the film and use 800-grit sandpaper and water to go over the entire surface until it is as smooth as possible. We wash the remains of the erased soil with water, dry it and cover our wheels with film as before.
It is MANDATORY to change the film after priming before painting! The primer does not adhere well to the film and when painting it can come off the old film and end up on the surface to be painted.

After complete drying, automotive putty, which has two components (two-component), is applied to the defective areas. It is necessary to carefully align all bends.
After the putty has dried, everything is sanded with fine-grained sandpaper and degreased. Next, you should prime the work surface. The primer is applied in several layers with each layer drying in between. The spray distance should be 20 centimeters. After it has completely dried, the most important moment comes - painting.
The can must be shaken thoroughly before use and the paint material must be sprayed in a thin layer. There should be several such stages, and to avoid the formation of unnecessary drips, each layer should dry for at least 20 minutes. If you do manage to create a sagging, it can be removed with fine sandpaper. But this can only be done on the first layers of color.
As practice shows, this method of painting is very convenient and the required consumption of dye is reduced to 3-4 cans for four wheels. If desired, you can coat the surface with varnish.

The most important and responsible stage of painting a disc is its proper preparation. If you skip any of the stages or do it poorly, then all the work can go down the drain. Old coating can be removed in several ways:
- heating;
- special liquid;
- sandblasting.
Thanks to this heating, the coating peels off and can be removed with a spatula. The use of liquid has already been mentioned earlier in the article. This method is considered the most popular, as it does not require much effort and expense. But sandblasting is the most progressive. It is able to remove not only outdated coatings, but also rust.
But not everyone has such a device, so you can either turn to professionals or choose another method of processing disks. To level the surface, you must use sandpaper with a grit of 300-400. Next, the paper is changed to P 1000 and the surface is processed to perfect smoothness. You need to start work from the inside of the disk. Those defects that could not be eliminated with sandpaper are finished off with putty. The method of applying it was mentioned earlier in the article.
Proper disc processing
You can degrease the surface not only with a special product; gasoline, alcohol, and solvent are also suitable for this. After this stage it is necessary to prime the surface. This step cannot be skipped, since the primer serves as a connecting link between the metal and the enamel. After applying the first layer, you can see previous imperfections. It is still possible to remove them; you just need to rub the error with sandpaper. The primer is applied in several layers. Professionals recommend drying it for about 12 hours. This will help the material adhere more firmly to the disc. Next comes the painting stage.

Enamel for cars is of course flimsy, but unfortunately I couldn’t find paint for non-traditional light rims; we sell them only for aluminum: (((I painted it with regular enamel, but in the color I wanted. Everything was bought in regular stores, the budget for painting all 4 disks in the region of 2-2.5 thousand + a lot of tedious work on cleaning, sanding, etc.

We put a spare tire in place of one wheel, take off the disk and throw away the bald summer tires, paint the disk, put new winter tires on it and put it on the car, so all 4 wheels : )))

This is what my disk looked like after several Perm winters; the coating was eaten away by the salt.
The disc has been washed, weights have been removed, etc.
After washing off the paint, clean it with a spatula. I didn’t find sandblasting, I used a wash.
We hang it up and degrease it with solvent.
Primer, then wait for it to dry and sand all the jambs again, then lightly prime again and dry.
Three layers of paint, the first barely covers the ground, wait 10-15 minutes and the second, main layer, wait 10-15 minutes and the final layer, at a great distance.
Leave to dry for a day, preferably two if the temperature is about 25 degrees.
Just painting it seemed banal to me and I decided to restore the inscription. I made a mock-up of the inscription in Corel and ordered an adhesive stencil from an advertising agency.
Glue the stencil onto the completely dry disk. Soapy water helps a lot.
