If a driver has lost his vehicle in another city and contacted the local traffic police department, employees must make a request at the place of registration of the car. Is it necessary to renew insurance? In addition to the STS, the motorist has other documents that he is obliged to carry with him in the car, in accordance with paragraph 2.1.1 of the traffic rules, including the MTPL policy. When receiving a new certificate, the driver must replace it. This is done free of charge at the insurance company where the car was registered. Otherwise, in the event of an accident, the insurer will not be able to pay compensation based on incorrect data in the policy.
Is it possible and necessary to change the license plate number? License plates are not subject to mandatory replacement when the certificate is restored. But if the plates have recently been severely damaged due to weather conditions or an accident, it is difficult to distinguish letters and numbers on them, it is worth replacing them. This can be done in parallel with replacing the STS.
