Why do they write to resellers not to bother?

Resellers - don't bother. What to watch out for when buying a car second-hand

The auto lawyer talked about what you should pay attention to when buying a used car.

It's no secret that buying a used car is a rather complicated and painstaking process. There is always a risk of falling into the hands of an unscrupulous owner who wants to sell his car with some problem, hiding it and thereby earning decent money. AiF.ru asked auto lawyer Dmitry Slavnov how to identify a used car seller with whom you should not enter into a deal.

According to Slavnov, now there are a large number of ways to deceive the buyer. The expert notes that, in fact, every transaction is a lottery. Most often, dealers sell not very good cars. In order to protect yourself as much as possible from problems with your newly purchased car, you should pay attention to certain points.

1. The seller’s behavior is too friendly

“If the seller is trying to talk you into words, to get under your skin, he may be a scammer. Such a person will try to extract something from you, conduct a conversation on a neutral topic,” notes Slavnov.

2. The car is perfectly clean, even with new pads

“Perfectly clean cars, in which all alarm components are covered, should be alarming,” says the lawyer. — If a car owner claims that he recently changed the oil, perhaps he is trying to hide a leak in the system. A normal seller will not change the pads, oil, or wash the engine before selling, because the buyer, if necessary, will do this himself.”

3. Instead of the original documents - a duplicate

“Many buyers pay attention primarily to the technical condition of the car, and do not even look at the documents. But they should be checked very carefully. You should be wary of a situation where, for some reason, instead of the original, the seller offers a duplicate,” says Slavnov.

4. The sale is not carried out by the owner himself, but by an authorized representative

A person who claims that the owner cannot be present at the transaction for some reason may turn out to be a fraudster. But this doesn't always happen. “If a car owner sold a car as a trade-in to a car dealership, then it will be sold by a representative of that dealership. In addition, the owner of the car can entrust its sale to a reseller or specialist who helps with finding buyers. Then they can have a power of attorney to complete the transaction and act on his behalf. But in any case, you need to look at the passport of the person who is selling the car,” says the auto lawyer.

5. The seller requires prepayment

No matter how the seller explains that an advance payment is required before concluding a transaction or viewing a car, this should not be done. It may turn out that there is no car, the scammer is simply engaged in “spin” the person interested in the ad into a preliminary transfer of money, even a small amount. Having received the money, the attacker naturally stops communicating. Therefore, the entire amount should be transferred to the car owner only upon concluding a purchase and sale agreement. Dmitry Slavnov recommends doing this with a notary. “The notary gives a certificate stating that the car is not stolen, not pledged to the bank, not seized by the bailiffs. He can check this information using the internal database,” says the expert.

How to protect yourself from a bad car purchase

Slavnov says that when looking for a used car, it is better to turn to friends and acquaintances who understand cars. If there are none, buy from a trusted seller, for example, from an official dealer. If a deal is concluded with a salon, pay attention to who runs it, whether it is official or not. It is also recommended to check before purchasing whether the car has been stolen or whether it has been used as a taxi. This can be done on the Autocode portal. You can also check the car and the owner on the traffic police website. Large, trusted sites where advertisements for the sale of cars are posted may have a similar verification service.

What kind of nonsense “please don’t disturb resellers”?

I don’t understand when people write advertisements for sale and indicate “please do not disturb resellers,” what kind of nonsense is this, that resellers are not people or something, they have such a job or someone else earns extra money. Who among you would refuse to sell a car at a higher price and buy it at a lower price?

These ads are what resellers give)))

From the reseller you receive the minimum price for your car. Maybe you are a reseller yourself?

No, I’m certainly not a reseller, but I would never refuse to sell my car at a higher price))) And regarding the fact that you will get the minimum price, when a person sells his car, he should know its real value, its shortcomings, etc. and sets the price himself and bargains at his own discretion.

That’s why they write this in the ad, because they know the real price of their car and don’t want to give it away at the minimum price. But you need to write this in order to save your time and not waste time on unnecessary viewing.

And I also saw such an announcement “I will sell in good hands - resellers and not of Slavic appearance, please do not disturb”, I LAUGHED FOR A LONG TIME))))))

Outbids help you sell your car quickly. And the low price is due to the fact that the money is given in person 2-3 hours after the sale agreement is signed. If you don't want it, don't sell it. And I believe that for some people who URGENTLY need money for medicine, surgery or something else, this is a way out. Now you understand that a pawnshop gives out money below the face value of an item. And you are not indignant. And when necessary, you go and hand over your things. So it is here too. Someone needs it.

Yes, stupid people write this, I think they saw it from someone and copied it, if the outbid has a purpose, then the owner will never in his life realize that he is not buying a car for himself.

I sold my previous car through a car marketplace. So what? But I didn’t want to go to the car market on weekends and argue with the hucksters who don’t hesitate to knock down your price as soon as they see that a future buyer is approaching. I didn’t want to do advertising, I’m looking for a bunch of resources for selling cars. I don't even have a camera. What, take pictures of the car on your mobile phone and put bad photos on websites? They outbid me to do this work for me. The car sold in 10 or 11 days. I arrived and received my money. I respect the work of others, so I think that they should have earned something too.

Yes, stupid people write this, I think they saw it from someone and copied it, if the outbid has a purpose, then the owner will never in his life realize that he is not buying a car for himself.

If you communicate normally and don’t show off, as some people do, even with a reseller you can bargain quite a lot. And they also write that I am the owner and the car is a fairy tale, and the rest of the market is just outbid and trash cars))))

Don't bother resellers

The driver is the most dangerous component of the car

You do not want to sell your car to resellers, car dealerships (these are the same thing) and write in your ad, most often at the end: “Please do not bother resellers.” Wrote it, great! Now tell me, how do you determine in an incoming call that a reseller is calling you? Is it that instead of a number on your phone, it shows RESELLER on the screen? Or after “Hello” he will introduce himself: “This is car reseller Ivanov from the car dealership “Resell at a higher price”?

In almost 80% of cases, you will never guess who is calling you. People are all different and, depending on their upbringing, status, and attitude towards others, will talk differently. Moreover, already now most resellers know how to negotiate politely when buying cars and know how to inspire trust. There are fewer and fewer hucksters in the used car market who behave like bandits. Such instances are becoming a thing of the past, because you have to rebuild if you want to make money.

Don't bother resellers

Some write even more strangely: “Please do not bother resellers of non-Slavic appearance.” Like, only in good hands and only to the Slavs. Naive. With your phrase “Please do not bother resellers of non-Slavic appearance,” you show your disdain for people based on their appearance. It's all useless.

If your car is liquid and has a normal price, then, in any case, car dealerships, resellers will call you, and send you SMS. This is their job, this is their bread, and the phrase “Please do not disturb resellers” will not stop anyone. You don’t like non-Slavs, which means that Russians who work in tandem with non-Slavs will call you)).

You will get calls from young girls who work the phones at a car dealership and who call everyone and say that they are looking for a car for themselves. And this car dealership may very well not belong to the Slavs.

They will tell you that yes, resellers are evil, and not Slavs are deceivers, and we offer you to deliver your car to our best (reseller) car dealership. And they will say this because they have written scripts about what and what phrases to say when negotiating with car sellers.

Business and nationalities

This is a business, and there are no nationalities in it, Slavs or non-Slavs, no one cares who and where they come from, from Kamchatka or Chechnya, the main thing is profit. Moreover, when you write your phrases in advertisements “Please do not disturb resellers,” you thereby encourage resellers to deceive you from the very beginning. Does anyone really think that with the phrase “Please do not disturb resellers” he will actually scare someone?

Everyone is bargaining

Let's move on. Some say: “I don’t want to waste my time on empty talk, showing a car, I don’t like that they lower my price, that they don’t give me enough money for my old car.” This is, of course, a good wish. But everyone wants to buy as cheaply as possible, and everyone bargains. You are also haggling and want to buy cheaper and then sell at a higher price your already used car, which has begun to crumble. This is a normal desire of any person.

From my own experience, I can say that some non-resellers, having read smart books that say, give us half the price, do just that, call, offering completely ridiculous amounts. And again, you will not know who is the reseller in front of you or the person who is looking for a car for himself. It is not written on it, so you will still have to lose your time looking at it and talking on the phone. Resellers do not have special clothing with the inscription “RESELLER” on the cap or jacket.

Why do sellers write “Resellers please do not disturb”?

Many people write the phrase “Please do not disturb resellers” because they think, thereby instilling trust among potential buyers. Like, they are so bad, but I’m not like that, I’m good. When I conducted a survey with my friends: what do you think about sellers who write in their advertisements the phrase “Resellers please do not disturb”?

Almost 35% wrote that these are written by the outbids themselves, so that they are not pestered by their own outbids. 50% wrote that this was written by people who sell damaged or faulty cars. They are looking for suckers who don’t understand cars in order to “sell” them “firewood” instead of a car.

Because resellers understand the car and will immediately find defects, but maybe the loser won’t see anything. The remaining 15% wrote that this was written by stupid people who copied it from someone and wrote it just like that, like it’s fashionable. What will you think when you see this phrase: “Please do not disturb resellers”? Most likely, you will think that someone is looking for a sucker to sell rubbish or is being sold by an inadequate person with whom it is difficult or impossible to agree on a price...

By the way, many people initially advertise with the phrase “Please do not disturb resellers,” but then, having no calls or buyers, remove these words. Because the main purpose of the ad is to attract buyers and sell the car, and not to scare anyone. And if a car hasn’t been sold for six months, and you really need money, then you’ll sell it to the devil, if only you’ll give it money.

It’s only when you start selling your worn-out car that you think it’s the best! That there will be a line of sufferers behind him, ready to repair your junk. Yeah! Why are you selling your car if everything is ok with it?

What should we do now?

The market is now crowded, gone are the days of shortages when there were queues for a Ford Focus, and two-year-old ones were sold at the price of a new one at a car dealership. Now no one needs the same Focus at all, and people are ready to give it up for any money, but no one buys it. Okay, that's sorted out.

If you don’t want outbid buyers to call you, sell an illiquid, rare car and set the maximum price for it.

I assure you that no one will call you, true, no one will buy your car, but you will be able to take revenge on all the resellers in the country. How do you like this option? Doesn't fit? Well, then, instead of the phrase “Please do not disturb resellers,” write that the bargaining is on the spot, at the hood, I only bargain at the car or there is no bargaining.

While this won't help much because everyone is trading, you won't look stupid in your listings.
So think for yourself whether to write these phrases or not. Maybe it would be better to write what benefits your potential buyer will get by buying a car from you?

What can we do without resellers?

And even though many consider resellers to be a universal evil, imagine for a moment that all resellers, all car dealerships that buy used cars have disappeared... So what? You advertise your car and wait a very long time for your buyer. Why so long? A typical outbid purchases from 3 cars. The car dealership is already a reseller on a large scale - it buys or puts on commission from 100 cars. But keep in mind that cars are purchased quickly.

And then all these cars are slowly, gradually sold out. It happens that cars hang for a year. Because the market is crowded and cannot instantly find buyers for all used cars at the same time.

And instead of car dealership sites and second-hand markets, where millions of used cars (which have already been purchased) are collecting dust, all these cars will hang with citizens who want to sell their cars and are waiting for their respectable buyer. And when you want to urgently sell your car, you simply cannot do it, but put it under your window and go to the bank to take out another loan.

And I’m not making anything up here, because this is the market and its laws. There is demand, which means there will be supply. If outbids were not needed, then they simply would not exist, just as pawnshops and various “Bystromodeni” would not exist. For those who want to become a reseller, there is an interesting book.

That's all for today, write in your ads something useful for buyers and put a price tag that takes into account the possibility of bargaining. Don’t play with the market, set a real price according to its year, condition, configuration, and they will definitely buy it from you.

I read the advertisements and almost everyone writes “please do not disturb resellers.” Why ? (haven't encountered them myself)

It's easy and interesting to communicate here. Join us!

But what difference does it make to whom to sell, the main thing is that the price suits both. If you agree on a price, take it off the register! And not any powers of attorney.

But I don’t know myself.. I don’t give a damn who to give the car to if the price suits me and the buyer. If he tries to significantly reduce the price, he will go to hell, and I will initially include a small margin for “reasonable bargaining” in the price

Firstly! when they buy a car, they check it inside and out with all sorts of devices for urads, for airbag deployment, etc.!! ! Due to this, the price is reduced and plus all this is a waste of time, for about 3 hours you stand stupidly and watch them check the car. who needs it? when a lot of people just come for a ride and take it! draw conclusions) ) and if there are no such jambs, then you can safely give them to outbid buyers!

Masters to bring down the price. They take according to gene. trust, then if something happens, you won’t find the ends.

And resellers will still call. This is their bread.

They are slippery people and arrogant. But they understand sellers clearly.

Outbids bring down the price by 25% or more from the price for which you would like to sell.

I sold my car today.
. so here it is. I sold it to a normal, adequate dude at a price one and a half times higher than what they gave me for it, and they also gave me my brain.

because they will never give the real price because they need to resell at a profit

this indicates the seller's desire to sell his pile of scrap metal for the price of a limousine.

They will take your price for 250, for example, and push you for 300

1. Because outbids really bring out the money.
Familiar to anyone who has sold an interesting car for the market. 2. So that repurchase does not look like repurchase.

Don’t call or bother: why and why sellers don’t like “outbid”

“Don’t bother dealers and resellers” - this phrase can often be seen in advertisements for car sales. We know from experience: annoying calls with unsuitable offers can be very annoying. But to the extent that requests not to call or disturb are effective, do they make sense? We learned about this directly from the authors of the advertisements.

Denis: “I’m simply not interested in offers from outbid companies.” Who might be interested in a price below the market price? Just as I don’t see any point in putting the car up for commission. That’s why I wrote a request not to disturb. But it doesn’t help much.”

Kirill: “Outbid” people are so... heavy. It's hard to communicate with them. The phrase in the ad does not help get rid of unwanted calls. They still call and send SMS. And they call very cunningly: first they ask everything, and then they say that they are bothering you from a car dealership. The people who make money from this don’t care what they say.”

Sergey: “This phrase doesn’t help at all. It was the “outbidders” who started calling first. And very brazenly: they immediately try to reduce the price by a couple of thousand, with the condition of buying either tomorrow, or even right now. I try not to even communicate with such people.”

Denis: “No requests help, they call anyway. The flow of calls was especially large immediately after the announcement was published; over time, the disturbances became less frequent. But nonetheless. It is difficult to distinguish “outbidders” over the phone. But car dealerships often call. They speak politely and immediately introduce themselves who they are. Mostly these are girls. Although one young man still made me angry. At first he terrorized me, but then he admitted that he was from a car dealership. But what really irritates us are questions about the “last price” from ordinary buyers. They don’t find out anything, don’t ask anything, the main thing is the price. They explain this by saying that they don’t want to go to Minsk from the regions in vain.”

Vladislav: “The phrase “outbid” does not help. They still call and offer a greatly reduced price, for which there is simply no point in selling the car. There are no interrogations, only general brief questions “is he going or not going?” I have already sold several cars, and, what is remarkable, the first calls are received literally within a couple of minutes. Just a waste of time and unnecessary worry. But car houses and second-hand shops don’t call, except to send SMS with offers like urgent car purchases or loans.”

We will not put every conversation in writing. All the sellers surveyed, independently of each other, came to the same conclusions: no amount of requests about the uselessness of “outbid” calls helps. One way or another, you have to waste time on them, and waste it: the prices offered do not correspond to the desired ones. What is also noteworthy is that none of the respondents was able (or did not want) to share their sad experience of working with outbid companies.

But car houses, apparently, are more selective when it comes to buying cars or putting them on consignment: they are not so actively interested in old models. Among the reasons why there is no desire to contact the sites, the most often noted was the reluctance to part with the car during the sale - after all, you need to drive.
