Exit of alcohol from the body for the driver

Alcohol calculator

Instructions for using the alcohol calculator

The Voprosoff.net alcohol calculator will be useful for you if you want to know:

  • How long after you can get behind the wheel and drive a car after drinking alcohol?
  • how much alcohol entered the body;
  • how much alcohol is contained in the blood and in the exhaled air;
  • what degree of alcohol intoxication was achieved;
  • what the consequences may be and how to deal with them.

To ensure that the calculator makes the correct calculation, follow the instructions:

  1. Please indicate your gender and age. Gender affects the amount of alcohol that will be absorbed by the body, age affects the rate of alcohol elimination.
  2. Please indicate your height and weight. These data also affect the amount of alcohol absorbed by the body.
  3. Specify the strength and volume of drinks, up to 5 pieces. For calculations, it is allowed to use a strength in the range of 0.5 - 96% and a volume of 50-10000 ml. If you have drunk more than 10,000 ml of one drink, enter the remaining volume in the next field.
  4. Indicate whether your stomach was full or empty at the time of drinking the first dose of alcohol, and click the “Calculate” button

Our alcohol calculator is fully suitable for use by drivers in 2019.

Alcohol calculator results

The maximum expected withdrawal time for alcohol is calculated based on your personal characteristics. It is this value that can be taken into account to determine the time when you can get behind the wheel and drive a car. Minimum, average and maximum time - general calculation without taking into account some parameters. These options can be ignored in most cases.

Exceptions:

  • if you have a serious injury or illness, we recommend focusing on the maximum time for alcohol withdrawal;
  • if during the removal of alcohol from the body you were engaged in heavy physical activity, then you can take the minimum time and add 15-25% to it;
  • In people who regularly drink alcohol, the time it takes for alcohol to be eliminated from the blood is shorter than in people who drink alcohol rarely. But, unfortunately, it is impossible to determine the exact time of alcohol withdrawal in this case without individual medical studies.

Please note: Our alcohol calculator shows the time for complete removal of alcohol from the blood and does not take into account the permissible limit of 0.3 ‰. Considering the possible slight error in the calculator’s calculations, we recommend focusing on the total hatching time.

Formulas used to calculate alcohol

The mathematical model underlying the Voprosoff.net alcohol calculator uses the generally accepted formula of the Swedish chemist Erik Widmark. It is this formula that is used by forensic experts all over the world to determine the amount of alcohol in a person’s body at a specific point in time:

where: BAC - alcohol concentration (g/l); t — time elapsed since consumption; A is the mass of pure ethanol in the drink (g); r —Widmark factor; W —body weight (kg); k is the alcohol absorption rate constant (h -1 ); b —rate of alcohol excretion ((g/l)/h);

To calculate the coefficients, the works of Seidl (S. Seidl, University of Vienna) and Forrest (Alexander Robert W. Forrest, University of Sheffield) were used.

Why is our calculator the most accurate?

When developing our alcohol calculator, we studied and took into account all the factors and techniques used in global forensic medicine. Our calculator was developed in 2010 and for a long time was available only to a limited circle of people in the form of a specialized program in the Java programming language. During this time, the accuracy of the calculations was repeatedly confirmed in practice.

Comparison with other online breathalyzers

You can find many different alcohol calculators and online breathalyzers , but most of them use only the simplest formulas and average (simplified) coefficients. We were able to find only 2 real full-fledged alcohol calculators in Russian, but even they take into account fewer factors than our calculator.

When can you drive after drinking alcohol?

It is very important to remember that the absence of alcohol in the blood does not in itself give you the right to drive a car.

According to paragraph 2.7 of the Russian Federation Traffic Regulations:

2.7.
The driver is prohibited from: driving a vehicle while intoxicated (alcohol, drugs or other), under the influence of medications that impair reaction and attention, in a sick or tired state that jeopardizes traffic safety;
transfer control of a vehicle to persons who are intoxicated, under the influence of medications, in a sick or tired state, as well as to persons who do not have a driver’s license to drive a vehicle of the appropriate category or subcategory, except for cases of driving training in accordance with section 21 Rules;

The driver is prohibited from driving when tired or ill. A severe and moderate hangover is precisely a painful condition, and driving is strictly prohibited. If you are sick or tired during an accident, you will be found at fault. Driving a car in this condition is dangerous for the driver, passengers and other road users.

Therefore, do not drive while hungover, even if alcohol has been completely eliminated from your body.

Stages of alcohol intoxication

Less than 0.3 ‰ - no influence of alcohol

There are no effects, behavior is normal. The presence of alcohol in the blood can only be determined using special tests.

From 0.3 to 0.5 ‰ - minor influence of alcohol

It is difficult for a person to concentrate, the following effects are possible: talkativeness, a feeling of joy, relaxation, mild euphoria.

From 0.5 to 1.5 ‰ - mild intoxication

Sensations become dulled, disinhibition and extroversion are possible. Possible impairments: reasoning, depth perception, peripheral vision.

From 1.5 to 2.5 ‰ - moderate intoxication

A person is characterized by: changeability of emotions, over-expressiveness, strong anger or sadness, frenzy, decreased libido. Reflexes and basic motor skills are impaired, reaction time is reduced. There is a possibility of temporary alcohol poisoning.

From 2.5 to 3.0 ‰ - severe intoxication

The following behavioral changes are possible: stupor, dullness of sensations, loss of the ability to understand. There is a possibility of loss of consciousness. Severe motor impairment and memory loss may also be present.

From 3.0 to 5.0 ‰ - severe alcohol poisoning, death may occur

Severe depression of the functions of the central nervous system, loss of consciousness, possible coma and death. Possible disturbances in urinary control, respiratory system functions and complete loss of balance.

More than 5.0 ‰ - fatal poisoning.

High risk of alcoholic coma, loss of consciousness, there is a possibility of death.

How is alcohol counted in courts?

When conducting research, forensic experts use the same formulas and guidelines that were used to develop our alcohol calculator. However, when conducting research for courts, forensic experts use coefficients that are more favorable to the defendant. If it is necessary to determine the degree of alcohol intoxication in an accident that occurred several hours before taking blood from the accused, then the minimum coefficient of alcohol removal from the body is applied: 0.10 ‰/hour. If it is necessary to show that at the time of the commission of the crime the defendant was in a state of insanity, then the maximum coefficient is used in the calculation: 0.20 ‰/hour. Unfortunately, forensic experts in Russia do not always use exact formulas, but often use average values of coefficients from guidelines.

Alcohol calculator

Our ppm alcohol calculator calculates the concentration of alcohol in the blood and the estimated time for its removal from the body. The service works on the basis of the internationally recognized Widmark formula (Widmark Erik MP), which gives the most accurate results.

Enter the initial data on the left

(Corresponds to exhaled air)

The indicated concentration corresponds

Time of elimination from the body

Instructions. To use the alcohol calculator, you need to enter: gender, weight, height of the person, degree of stomach fullness, strength and amount of alcohol consumed. Then click on the “Calculate” button. The calculator will calculate the maximum concentration of ethyl alcohol, the degree of intoxication and the time until alcohol is completely eliminated from the body.

As of 2017, according to Article 12.8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, liability for drunk driving: “occurs in the event of an established fact of consumption of substances that cause alcohol intoxication, which is determined by the presence of absolute ethyl alcohol in a concentration exceeding the possible total measurement error, namely 0. 16 milligrams per liter of exhaled air.” This amount approximately corresponds to 0.3 ppm (0.3 g of alcohol per 1 liter of blood).

Attention! The results of calculations are not evidence in court and do not serve as a basis for challenging other methods (laboratory or breathalyzer measurements). The time it takes for each person to eliminate alcohol is individual; using the formula, only average values can be calculated. The owner of the site and the developers of the calculator disclaim any responsibility related to its use.

Degrees of human intoxication

Mild (0.5-1.5 ppm) - occurs in the first minutes after drinking alcohol. Muscles relax, mood improves, and a feeling of comfort appears. A person becomes sociable, courageous, and overly active.

Average (1.5-2.5‰) – speech is monotonous, sometimes slurred. Coordination of movements is impaired. Irritability, rudeness towards others or strangers, and aggression appear. With moderate levels of intoxication, most people are ready to start an argument or fight. Short-term memory lapses occur.

Severe (2.5-3.0‰) – coordination is completely lost, speech is slurred, often accompanied by complete loss of memory. Often, with severe intoxication, a person loses consciousness, and involuntary urination may occur.

Alcohol poisoning (3-5‰) is fraught with loss of health or death. A concentration above 5‰ is considered a lethal dose of alcohol, at which the victim can only be saved in a medical facility.

If you are a vigilant driver and want to limit communication with law enforcement agencies regarding “alcohol” violations, then an alcohol calculator is a must-have for you. This electronic online tool is used to independently determine the amount of alcohol entering the bloodstream, based on the quality and quantity of alcoholic beverages taken.

Regardless of the reasons for drinking alcohol, it is very important to remember that the abuse of recreational drinks very often leads to sad irreversible consequences, but an alcohol calculator can come to your aid.
It is useful in the following cases: - when you want to calculate the maximum possible alcohol dose for yourself;
- when after a strong feast you have to get behind the wheel;
- when you want to know when the effects of alcohol will become safe and you can drive a car without fear.

Having information about the current concentration of pure alcohol in your blood, which the alcohol intoxication calculator without much difficulty, you can determine the time until sobering up and decide whether it’s worth driving for now. It would be useful to remind you that every third accident is caused by drunk drivers. The state, starting in August 2010, tightened the requirements for the permissible level of pure alcohol (in other words, ethanol) in exhaled air and blood.

From now on, the concentration of alcohol in the blood and air must be zero. Therefore, an alcohol content calculator for drivers is simply an indispensable tool. After all, if you don’t want to lose your driver’s license for 1.5 or even 2 years without passing a humiliating breathalyzer test, you need to worry about your blood alcohol filler now.

Do you want to create an individual table for the removal of alcohol from the body for your data (gender, height, weight)? Use our program, which is powered by a professional calculator algorithm.

Alcohol calculator online

Even if you, as a driver, do not drink alcohol at all, an online alcohol calculator will still be useful to you. Remember that many products contain small amounts of pure alcohol at first glance. So, even a slightly overripe banana and a cigarette contain 0.2 ppm, juice - 0.4 ppm, mouth freshener spray - up to 0.5 ppm. Both yeast kvass and fermented yogurt, kefir or curdled milk can prevent a positive outcome from a breathalyzer test.

It is worth using an online alcohol calculator to check the alcohol content in the blood after taking certain medications, including valerian, motherwort tincture, calendula, Corvalol and others. All of these medications and products increase the concentration of alcohol in the blood after taking them, although for a short time. But how can you insure yourself against inspection by the traffic police?

Blood alcohol calculator

How does alcohol content calculator ? You will need to indicate in the program window: your weight and height (the higher the indicators, the more alcohol you need to get drunk), gender (women generally get drunk many times faster than men), the alcohol content in each of the drinks consumed and their quantity. In the program, you will also have to indicate whether the alcohol was taken on a full or empty stomach, since alcohol drunk on an empty stomach will intoxicate you faster and will remain in the blood longer.

The program will also ask you to enter the rate of alcohol removal from the blood (ppm per hour). You do not have to make changes to the blood alcohol content calculator if these parameters are not clear to you - in this case, the result will be 99% reliable. It is worth noting that the rate of elimination largely depends on the rate of metabolism and genes, since sensitivity to alcohol can also be inherited.

Alcohol removal from the body calculator

It is important to remember that, as mentioned above, alcohol can linger in the blood of an individual person for a different amount of time, so the alcohol weathering calculator may give results that are not a verdict. However, the average blood alcohol concentration can be calculated. So, with different exposures, an 80-kilogram man will have 0.3 ppm of alcohol in his body after drinking two hundred grams of dry wine, or half a liter of beer, or fifty grams of vodka.

Enter the required information into the fields of the alcohol yield calculator and get a reliable result of the maximum alcohol content in your body, corresponding to a certain degree of intoxication, and the time of its complete removal from the blood. As a result of our online breathalyzer, you will receive a verdict: is it okay for you to drive a car or is it better to take a taxi?

Alcohol calculator/breathalyzer

Using this alcohol calculator, you can independently determine the approximate blood alcohol content after drinking alcohol. In our opinion, this is the most accurate virtual breathalyzer among other online blood alcohol calculators for drivers found on the Internet.

This alcohol calculator for drivers works equally well on personal computers and laptops, as well as on tablets, smartphones, and other devices running Android, iOS, Symbian and other mobile operating systems. Therefore, it is convenient to use it anywhere and on whatever is convenient (if you have online access to the Internet).

For those who could not figure out how to use this alcohol calculator on their own, below we provide detailed instructions on how to use it to calculate the concentration of alcohol in the blood.

How to calculate blood alcohol concentration using an alcohol calculator

To use a calculator to calculate your blood alcohol concentration and find out when you will be able to drive a car after drinking alcohol, you must follow these steps:

  1. Select your gender in the top line of the breathalyzer (M – male, F – female).
  2. Please indicate your approximate weight below (see example in the picture above).
  3. Try to remember how much, what and when you drank, and fill in the appropriate fields of the alcohol calculator.
  4. After entering the data, click the “Calculate!” button.
  5. Then our alcohol calculator will calculate the estimated blood alcohol content, give you a “diagnosis” and write whether you can drive a car in this state.

Thus, by experimenting with the amount and type of alcohol that you have already consumed (or are just about to do so), it is not difficult to get an idea of how much alcohol is acceptable to drink so that you can safely drive in the morning.

How many hours later can you drive after drinking alcohol?

The approximate time for the natural elimination of alcohol from the body, depending on the type of alcoholic drink and body weight, is shown in the following figure.

Let's imagine this situation - you are a driver and you drank 2 liters of beer. When will it be possible to drive a car? The procedure for checking on our online breathalyzer will be approximately the same as described in the instructions above:

  • Set your gender, body weight, drink (beer), amount drunk (2 liters), and press the “Calculate!” button;
  • The calculator will calculate your blood alcohol concentration and the time when you can get behind the wheel.

It must be remembered that no alcohol calculator, even the best one, can give a 100% accurate result on the level of alcohol in the blood after drinking alcohol.

The team of our site advises, in order to avoid unnecessary troubles, after drinking alcohol, use exclusively public transport or taxi services for some time.

We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the results of the experiment (in the video below), which you will not get on any alcohol calculator on the Internet: measurement readings from a real breathalyzer after drinking a bottle of kvass and non-alcoholic beer.

Breathalyzer: is it possible to drive after drinking kvass and non-alcoholic beer?

Alcohol calculator

The alcohol calculator is designed to independently determine the concentration of alcohol in the blood, based on the quantity and quality of alcoholic beverages consumed.

The reasons why people drink alcohol can be completely different. Some people drink intoxicating drinks to relax, some to gain courage, and some to forget and get away from problems. In all cases, we should not forget that excessive alcohol consumption has a detrimental effect on human health and can lead to irreversible consequences.

Our calculator can be useful in different cases:

  • If you plan to drive after a feast;
  • You want to calculate the maximum allowable dose of alcohol for yourself;
  • You want to know how long after drinking alcohol you can safely drive a car, etc.

Knowing what specific concentration of ethanol (pure alcohol) you have in your blood at a given time, you will be able to make decisions regarding travel as a driver of a vehicle and calculate the time interval until sobriety occurs.

Drunk driving law

Statistics show that about a third of all road accidents occur due to drunk drivers. It is not surprising that the country has a law prohibiting driving while intoxicated.

Until 2010, there were restrictions on the permissible level of ethanol in the blood and exhaled air. Thus, the maximum possible level of alcohol in the blood was 0.3 ppm, and in the exhaled air - 0.15 mg/l. Thus, it was possible to drive without fear, for example, after a bottle of weak beer.

Starting from August 6, 2010, the requirements became more stringent. Now the concentration of alcohol in both the blood and exhaled air should be zero. If a drunk driver nevertheless dares to get behind the wheel of a car, then he faces deprivation of his driver’s license for a period of one and a half to two years (according to the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, Article 12.8). The same penalty is provided if the driver gives control of the car to a person who is intoxicated.

It is important to understand that a driver is now recognized as drunk only according to the readings of a special device - a breathalyzer. A breathalyzer is a special technical device that is used to determine the concentration of ethanol in exhaled air.

Foods and drinks that increase ppm

Even if the driver does not drink alcoholic beverages at all, he still should not let his guard down, because a certain amount of ppm is found in various other products.
For example, yeast kvass contains from 0.1 to 0.6 ppm, and kefir and ayran contain 0.2 ppm. A small amount of ethanol is also released in many fruits: oranges, bananas. Among the ingredients, alcohol can be found in chocolate, cakes, and pastries. Also, medications containing alcohol can affect the breathalyzer readings. Among such medicines are motherwort, Corvalol, valerian, calendula, etc.

How long does alcohol last?

Unfortunately, there are simply no universal indicators of how long a particular portion of alcohol will remain in the blood. Each person is unique, the rate of absorption of alcohol is different for everyone. Here are some factors that influence the speed of this process:

  • Height, weight of a person. The higher these indicators are, the larger the portion a person needs to become intoxicated;
  • Floor. In most cases, women get drunk faster than men;
  • Genetic predisposition. Sensitivity to alcohol is inherited;
  • General condition of the body. For example, drinking a dose of alcohol on an empty stomach will intoxicate you faster and, accordingly, will remain in the blood longer.

Since even for one person the toxic effects of alcohol can take different times, you should not take the calculator readings literally.
However, the average alcohol concentration in the human body can be calculated. It is known that different drinks intoxicate differently. For example, the concentration of alcohol in the body of a man weighing 80 kg will be 0.3 ppm (this is the term for the unit of measurement of alcohol) if he drinks:

  • 50 grams of vodka;
  • Or 200 grams of dry wine;
  • Or 500 grams of beer.

The maximum concentration of alcohol in the human body lasts from 30 minutes to several hours after consumption, then gradually subsides.

In order for you to independently calculate the amount of alcohol in your blood, you need to enter in the form fields information about your gender, weight, indicate whether you drank drinks on an empty stomach or not, and also mark all types of drinks you drank and indicate their portion.
