Is yellow headlight allowed?

Are yellow bulbs allowed in headlights?

Even experienced motorists who take the requirements of current legislation seriously and responsibly may not know whether yellow bulbs in headlights are allowed. Information on this issue is quite contradictory and difficult to understand. Therefore, it is important to study the official documentation that regulates what color headlights a car should have. Based on the information received, you can draw the necessary conclusions yourself.

Is it allowed to install yellow light bulbs on cars?

In accordance with the Technical Regulations “On the Safety of Wheeled Vehicles” (Appendix 7, clause 3.1.), in Russia, drivers have the right to use yellow bulbs only in fog devices. And for high and low beam headlights, only white ones are allowed. In accordance with the same document, car owners cannot use yellow film on headlights . It is believed that it negatively affects the quality of operation of lighting devices, does not allow the flow of light to disperse correctly, etc.

On the other hand, according to the Traffic Regulations (Administrative Code) clause 3.6, in the front of the car there should be lighting devices with bulbs that create white, yellow or orange radiation. The same document allows the use of yellow reverse lights on cars. That is, traffic police officers cannot deprive the car owner of his rights for such a violation of the regulations, since it is not a traffic violation. However, if you have installed LED lamps for cars in low-beam or high-beam headlights, you are likely to encounter problems with maintenance. Therefore, today more and more drivers are abandoning this option.

As for the film that is glued to the lights, this technological solution is officially considered one of the types of tuning. Therefore, traffic police officers may stop a car whose owner used the film. The traffic rules do not say anything about it, and therefore in this case it is advisable to adhere to the requirements of the Technical Regulations, which do not allow the use of film. Otherwise, no matter what light bulbs you have installed, problems may arise both on the road and during maintenance.

Car enthusiasts and car non-enthusiasts, I have a question for you.

With the beginning of autumn, I decided to improve the headlights to make it more comfortable to drive on wet and muddy roads. Collective farm xenon, halogens for xenon and other crap I immediately dismissed - I don’t need these useless show-offs. I decided to take yellow lamps, since I had lamps with yellow glass in my fogs since the summer, and I was pleased with their light. In stores I was offered two options: lamps with chameleon glass (yellowish-bluish) and lamps with just yellow glass. I decided to take both options for comparison, I bought Osram Allseason (chameleons) and Lynx lamps with yellow glass. The light of yellow lamps in the headlights looks better than the light of a chameleon (it gives a purple tint at the bottom of the headlight), but in my opinion, the chameleon illuminates wet asphalt better. And I was already thinking about leaving the chameleons until the end of autumn, but then I came across a post where a guy told how the guys got to him for such lamps (http://www.drive2.ru/b/4062246863888211801/). I googled it and found other similar cases. I went to smoke materiel and smoked the following:

1. Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, art. 12.4 clause 1 :
Installation on the front of the vehicle of lighting devices with red lights or red reflective devices, as well as lighting devices, the color of the lights and the mode of operation of which do not comply with the requirements of the Basic Provisions for the admission of vehicles to operation and the duties of officials ensuring road safety, -

2. Appendix, List of faults and conditions under which the operation of vehicles is prohibited:

clause 3.6 The following is installed on the vehicle:

in front - lighting devices with lights of any color other than white, yellow or orange, and retroreflective devices of any color other than white;

at the rear - reverse lights and state registration plate lights with lights of any color other than white, and other lighting devices with lights of any color other than red, yellow or orange, as well as retroreflective devices of any color other than red.

3. State standard of the Russian Federation GOST R 41.48-2004 (UNECE Rules No. 48)
“Uniform regulations regarding the certification of vehicles regarding the installation of lighting and light signaling devices”

clause 5.15 Colors of lights emitted by headlights:
- high beam and low beam headlights
white
- front fog lamp
white or yellow

Thus, it is not clear what to stick to. In a driving school, for example, they don’t give GOST standards, and traffic regulations don’t divide headlights into low/high beam/PTF. Hence the question: is it possible to drive with chameleons, or even just yellow lamps, without fear of traffic cops? Or is this already a violation? Maybe someone who has encountered this can share their experience! Thank you in advance.

How to avoid a fine for headlights? Requirements for lighting devices

Traffic rules regulate a variety of aspects of the use of motor vehicles. This also applies to lighting devices such as headlights and signal lights. After all, the safety of all road users depends on their correct operation.

Today, many drivers are interested in the question: what is the fine for violating the use of lighting devices? Is it possible to avoid a fine and how to contribute to this? We will consider these and many other issues related to the use of car headlights in this article.

What is the penalty for failure to comply with the required requirements?

For daytime running lights

Based on traffic regulations, the use of DRLs is mandatory in the following cases :

  • transportation of minor children;
  • riding a motor vehicle;
  • transportation of oversized or dangerous and explosive substances;
  • on minibuses and public transport.

According to Article 19 of the Traffic Regulations, paragraph 19.5, all drivers while driving in the city and on the highway are required to turn on DRLs or low beam lights, or fog lights. If these requirements are met, adequate safety for pedestrians and other motorists on the road will be ensured.

If these requirements are not met, the fine for violation will be 500 rubles (Article 12.20 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation).

12.20 article of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. Violation of the rules for using external lighting devices, sound signals, hazard warning lights or warning triangles

Violation of the rules for using external lighting devices, sound signals, hazard warning lights or warning triangles - entails a warning or the imposition of an administrative fine in the amount of five hundred rubles.

Turn signals not included

Before performing various maneuvers in any situation, the driver undertakes to turn on the turn signals, regardless of whether there are other cars on the road.

Responsibility for violating the rules of maneuvering is based on Part 1 of Article 12.14 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, which states that for this traffic violation the driver:

  1. give a warning;
  2. or a fine of 500 rubles is issued.

Read more about the fine for not turning on the turn signal and driving in the wrong direction here.

Low beam off

Since 2010, drivers have been required to drive with low beams on at all times, day and night. According to Article 12.20 of the Administrative Code, the amount of the fine issued for headlights without low beams on will be 500 rubles .

Inoperative or driving with one faulty

  • the violator pays a fine of 500 rubles due to a faulty or dirty lighting device;
  • or the driver may be limited to a verbal warning.

Installation of light bulbs of blue and other colors in dimensions

According to paragraphs of Article 3 of the Traffic Regulations, the list of acceptable colors of lighting devices is as follows :

  1. At the front of the vehicle, white, yellow or orange colors are acceptable.
  2. Only red, yellow and orange devices are installed at the rear of the vehicle.
  3. When illuminating the rear license plate and reversing lights, only white can be used.

The blue color is not indicated in this paragraph, because installing blue or blue light bulbs is an offense in which the operation of vehicles is prohibited in accordance with Part 3 of Article 12.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, which specifies the permitted colors.

The presence of lighting devices whose color and mode of operation of the lights contradicts road safety requirements guarantees deprivation of rights for a period of 6-12 months with confiscation of these devices and devices (12.5 of the Administrative Code).

Using non-standard xenon

The light from xenon lamps can blind drivers in oncoming and passing lanes. This happens when using xenon lamps with “halogen” reflectors, in which case it is directed anywhere but onto the road.

They can also interfere with neighboring and oncoming cars and cause discomfort to their drivers. With xenon bulbs, the car has very bright lighting. The light becomes more intense, but due to unsuitable reflectors, xenon headlights do not illuminate the road as they should . The light falls very close to the car itself, which significantly worsens the illumination of the road.

In this case, paragraph 3.4 of Article 3 of the Traffic Regulations is applied, indicating the absence of lenses or the use of lenses and lamps that do not correspond to the type of this lighting device. Despite the absence of a fine for the use of non-standard xenon, its installation, one way or another, is a violation of the specified traffic rules.

The inspector needs to carry out an inspection in accordance with Part 1 of Article 27.9 of the Code of Administrative Offenses to be completely convinced that the “left” xenon is actually installed.

Installation of LED lamps

In this case, paragraph 3.1 of Article 3 of the Traffic Regulations is taken into account. Malfunctions and conditions under which there is no right to use transport.

The number, type, color, location and operating mode of external lighting devices do not meet the design requirements of the vehicle itself. Punishments for such a violation are provided for in paragraph 3 of Article 12.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses :

  • For installing LED bulbs in halogen headlights, you will be deprived of your license for 6-12 months.
  • When completely replacing halogen headlights with LED ones, a violation of paragraph 3.1 of Article 3 of the Traffic Regulations is provided. The fine for diode bulbs in headlights will be 500 rubles.

Rear instrument tinting

In part 3 of Art. 12.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses there are no specific instructions or prohibitions on tinting rear headlights . Administrative penalties are carried out in accordance with the first part of the article, which states that driving a vehicle with defects, or in case of failure to obtain the right to operate a car, will be punishable by a fine of 500 rubles.

According to safety rules, the tint film should absorb no more than 15% of the brightness of the emitted light (it is important to place special emphasis on the headlights). In cases of a different situation, the use of transport will be prohibited.

You will find more information about fines for tinting rear and front headlights in this article.

Using special signal

  • taxi lamp;
  • reflective stripes of various special services;
  • taxi checkers and sound signals.

It is important to note that Article 12.4 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation does not provide for responsibility for driving vehicles with these signals. This will already constitute an offense when driving a car with special signals. These warnings are specified in Article 12.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation.

According to 12.4 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, parts 2 and 3 for the following violations:

  1. A fine of 5,000 rubles is issued and also entails confiscation of the subject of the administrative offense.
  2. For officials who are responsible for the use of a vehicle, the fine will be 20,000 rubles, followed by confiscation.
  3. For legal representatives – 500,000 rubles with confiscation.

Illegal application of specially designed color schemes of emergency service vehicles or the color scheme of a passenger taxi to the outer surface of a vehicle is also an offence. The following penalties are provided for the use of special designations :

  • a fine of 5,000 rubles;
  • officials responsible for the operation of transport - 20,000 rubles;
  • legal – 500,000 rubles.

The traffic police fines are periodically amended, about 2-3 times a year. It is worth visiting the official pages from time to time and checking the relevance of the information provided.

Penalty for blue headlights in 2020

Good afternoon, dear reader.

In this article we will talk about installing light devices with blue lights on a car, as well as possible punishment for blue headlights.

As a rule, drivers install blue lights as tuning, i.e. to improve the appearance of the car.

At the same time, blue lamps can be installed in headlights, side lights, daytime running lights, rear registration plate illumination, or as additional lighting under the bottom of the car.

Is it possible to install blue lamps in headlights and markers?

3.6. The vehicle is equipped with:

  • in front - lighting devices with lights of any color other than white, yellow or orange, and retroreflective devices of any color other than white;
  • at the rear - reverse lights and state registration plate lights with lights of any color other than white, and other lighting devices with lights of any color other than red, yellow or orange, as well as retroreflective devices of any color other than red.

This paragraph provides an exhaustive list of permitted colors of lighting devices:

The blue color of the headlights is not mentioned at all in this paragraph, i.e. installing blue or cyan bulbs in any case is a violation .

And not an ordinary violation, but a violation in which the operation of a vehicle is prohibited.

Deprivation of rights for blue light bulbs until 2019

Until June 25, 2019, judges considered the installation of blue light bulbs as a violation falling under Part 3 of Article 12.5 of the Administrative Code:

3. Driving a vehicle on the front of which are installed lighting devices with red lights or red reflective devices, as well as lighting devices, the color of the lights and the mode of operation of which do not comply with the requirements of the Basic Regulations for the admission of vehicles to operation and the duties of safety officials traffic, -

entails deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of six months to one year with confiscation of the specified instruments and accessories.

Thus, there was no monetary fine for blue lights in the parking lights or headlights. The driver immediately received a license deprivation for a period of 6 to 12 months.

Penalty for blue light bulbs in 2020

On June 25, 2019, the Resolution of the Plenum of the Supreme Court No. 20 was published, which contains the following paragraph in paragraph 6:

At the same time, if only the color or operating mode of the light devices installed on the vehicle does not comply with the above requirements, driving such a vehicle can be qualified under Part 1 of Article 12.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation.

When installing blue bulbs, only the color of the lighting fixtures changes. The operating mode does not change. Therefore, in 2019, the driver may be fined under Part 1 of Article 12.5 of the Administrative Code - 500 rubles or a warning.

This article is about installing blue light bulbs. This is due to the fact that cars with this violation can be found on Russian roads from time to time. However, information about this violation has not received wide publicity, unlike, for example, the installation of xenon or LED lamps. Therefore, few drivers who install blue lamps understand what punishment awaits them.

About a couple times a year I get questions about installing blue light bulbs. Most often, the point is that the driver wants to find out how lawfully the punishment was imposed for the wrong color of the lamps in the headlights. So I don’t recommend repeating this mistake. If your vehicle has blue or light blue bulbs, replace them with standard ones as soon as possible.

Note. The above information also applies to lighting devices of other non-standard colors : green, purple, brown. However, such options are much less common.

Good evening forum members. I’ve been thinking about the topic of yellow headlights for a long time, they told me on Auto Plus that this light is safer when driving (it’s better visible in fog, on a wet road, and doesn’t blind drivers). I really see people like these extra lights when I was driving at night from Saransk to Ruzaevka. Here's the actual question: Has anyone tried how it is to drive constantly with such a light? Do I need to specifically buy headlights with yellow reflectors or are there bulbs for standard yellow headlights? If you have light bulbs, what is the best one to buy?

Yellow is blinding. Night vision retains red light, but one such driver is of no use, and visibility in red is noticeably worse (taking into account the risks while driving a car).

For me, the yellow color eats away at the eyes on a dry road. Buy yellow bulbs from Osram. Tried a bunch of bulbs, went back to the factory Philips + 30%

I think the safest for everyone is factory xenon, the rest is from the evil one.

The stock lamp is better than any yellow, blue, white, etc.

I'm confused right now, everything is shining brightly, but only while it's not raining, as soon as it rains, it's as if there's no light.

Lenses and xenon - and there will be happiness. And in fog, if it is strong, reflectors provide a wall of light, be it yellow or white. If there is xenon, and lower, and not in a chandelier (for example), then you will see perfectly + the lenses align well.

It is highly likely that you will be deprived of your license in the same way as for blue, red, etc., even easier than for xenon.
Those who, in response to this, write that white and yellow lights can be installed in front, carefully read GOST about the light of low beam headlights and fog lights, it says that only white light is allowed in low beam, and white and yellow in PTF. Therefore, a competent Gay will deprive and be right, a friend had a precedent for “gold” lamps, not xenon, they did not deprive, they understood and forgave, but the lamps were removed that same night.

We discussed all this in the car, plus no one bothers you about anything; if you have strobe lights or a chandelier with flashing lights, they deprive you
