Violation of double solid line punishment

What is the penalty for a double solid line marking in 2019

There are two main types of marking lines: with one stripe and two (1.1 and 1.3, respectively). Crossing any continuous line in the middle of the road is strictly prohibited. However, the penalty for crossing is determined individually, taking into account exactly which markings were crossed and under what conditions. Is there really more liability for crossing 1.3 markings than for 1.1?

What types of fines are provided?

The driver should take a closer look at the penalties he may face when crossing a double line. According to current legislation, a motorist may face the following sanctions for an offense:

  • for getting ahead of the curve using an oncoming lane - 5,000 rubles or confiscation of the driver’s license (for a period of 4 to 6 months);
  • for driving around a damaged vehicle, a fallen pole and other obstacles on the way - a fine in the amount of 1000 to 1500 rubles;
  • for driving in oncoming traffic - a penalty of 5,000 rubles or confiscation of the certificate for a period of 4 months to six months;
  • for hitting a 1.3 marking with one of the wheels (if the motorist can prove this fact) - 1,500 rubles;
  • for performing a 180 degree turn or turn - a fine of 1000 to 1500 rubles;
  • if an offense is recorded with video equipment - a fine of 5,000 rubles;
  • for illegal departure from the adjacent territory - 500 rubles;
  • for a repeated offense within 12 months associated with crossing a double continuous line - deprivation of the right to drive a vehicle for a year.

Thus, the most severe punishment is provided for repeated violation of traffic rules. However, deprivation of rights for a year can be avoided if the offense is recorded on camera. In this case, the most severe sanction will be a material penalty - 5,000 rubles.

A motorist moves in the oncoming lane

Drifting into the opposite lane can result in not only a serious fine, but also the loss of your driver's license. The following reasons for neglecting continuous markings are particularly common:

  • the driver makes an overtaking maneuver without assessing the road situation;
  • the vehicle owner turns left through oncoming traffic;
  • a motorist drives into tram tracks in the opposite direction (which is also considered driving into oncoming traffic).

All of the above situations require the same measures of influence on the driver. The guilty traffic participant will be required to either pay a fine of 5,000 rubles, or lose the right to drive a vehicle for a period of 4 to six months.

The period of deprivation of a driver’s license is determined individually, taking into account all the accompanying conditions of the offense. To a greater extent, the length of the sentence depends on how much the public danger has increased at the time the offense was committed.

A minimum period (4 months) will be established if crossing a double continuous line does not entail serious consequences and does not provoke an emergency. The driver must prove that he had the situation under control and correctly assessed the road situation.

The driver turns or turns through continuous markings

Often, such situations arise when motorists want to save time and start maneuvering before the start of the dotted line. Such a deliberate violation of the rules entails a fine in the amount of one and a half thousand rubles.

The driver goes around an obstacle through a double solid road

Detour around the obstacle is accompanied by forced crossing of markings 1.3. Moreover, driving into oncoming traffic can be either sudden (for example, when a pole unexpectedly falls) or in advance (if there is a faulty vehicle on the road). Despite the forced nature of the offense, if a violation is recorded, the driver will be subject to a financial penalty in the amount of 1,000 to 1,500 rubles.

Leaving the courtyard area

Before changes were made to the legislation in 2017, for leaving the courtyard territory and then turning left, the driver was subject to a sanction in the form of deprivation of his driver’s license. For the current year, the penalty for such violations has been reduced to 500 rubles.

It's hard to see the solid

Road conditions are rarely ideal. Sometimes a broken line is actually a solid line. In such situations, when appealing the inspector’s decision, the court will side with the motorist, since the poor condition of the roads is not his fault.

To justify the reduction in liability, the owner of the vehicle must provide photo or video materials of the condition of the markings. The presence of evidence will help the motorist avoid serious punishment in the form of deprivation of rights or a fine of 5,000 rubles.

The driver left the lane of passing traffic to prevent an accident

Current legislation assumes the possibility of an emergency situation on the road arising from violating traffic rules. This provision is regulated by Article 2.7 of the Code of Administrative Offences. If a motorist can prove that his departure into the oncoming lane was due to extreme necessity, any sanctions from law enforcement agencies will be unlawful.

Controversial situation: the driver drove onto a solid road, but did not cross it. Will there be a fine?

Road inspectors consider even a slight collision with a line with one wheel to be an intersection. A traffic police officer in such a situation may well deprive the driver of his license. However, motorists often receive a fine, the amount of which is 5,000 rubles.

The penalty for driving over a solid marking line can be reduced using Part 1 of Article 12.15 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. This provision regulates: the measure of liability for violating traffic rules when driving a car within the limits of the PCH is expressed by a fine in the amount of 1,500 rubles.

However, to reduce the fine, the motorist will have to collect all the significant evidence and present it correctly. The inspector will not agree to accept the violator’s words as a valid argument.

What influences the sanction applied to the driver?

The measure of liability for offenses provided for in paragraph four of Article 12.15 of the Code of Administrative Violations is largely determined by the motorist’s involvement in such violations during the year. If the owner of a vehicle crosses a double line for the first time, a material penalty will be applied to him - a fine.

In case of repeated violation of current regulations, the driver will be doomed to have his driver's license confiscated. The legislation clearly defines the penalties provided for habitual offenders:

  • if crossing a solid road was recorded by a traffic inspector - deprivation of the right to drive a car for 12 months;
  • if the violation is recorded using video equipment - a fine in the amount of 5,000 rubles.

It is important to note that in some cases a violation recorded by a camera can be appealed. The equipment is still subject to error and has limited visibility. It is quite possible that when drawing up the decision on the case, the fact, for example, of the presence of an obstacle on the road was not taken into account.

If the driver is confident that he can justify the reason for his offense from a legal point of view, he can count on a reduction in the fine. The main thing is not to miss the deadline during which the decision can be appealed. The period for filing a complaint lasts 10 days from the date of receipt of the receipt.

Lawyer's advice: how to prove innocence

The driver has the right to disagree with the accusation and try to prove his innocence. Not every case of crossing continuous markings can be qualified as an administrative violation. There are also frequent controversial situations in which the degree of responsibility depends on the competence of the driver’s actions.

A common case: a driver begins an overtaking maneuver on a section of road with intermittent markings, and ends by crossing a solid one. In such circumstances, the motorist can insist on his innocence, referring to clause 11.4 of the traffic rules. The provision obliges the driver to return to the abandoned lane of passing traffic after completing the maneuver.

You can appeal the inspector’s decision even after the decision on the case has been made. The driver must send an application requesting a review of the punishment directly to the management of the traffic police or to the district court.

It is possible to substantiate a complaint using the following wording:

  • There is a vague marking line on the road. When presenting this circumstance, it is necessary to have photographic materials confirming its validity. Verbal testimony will have no role. In the photographs it is necessary to emphasize the landmarks of the territory, the location of the vehicle and the vaguest markings. The more circumstances are captured, the less doubt the judge will have about the motorist’s innocence.
  • Existence of extreme necessity. The court does not exclude the possibility that an emergency situation may arise on the road in which a violation is necessary. An example of such a circumstance is a sharp change in trajectory in order to avoid an accident.
  • Driving a vehicle not owned by the owner. Sometimes car owners transfer their vehicle for use to another person legally. However, if video equipment records the intersection of a solid line, a fine will be sent to the owner of the car. When going to court, the fine will be forwarded to the real culprit.
  • Error when determining the license plate number of a car. Sometimes the automation cannot correctly recognize any details of the shooting. In such situations, the fine comes to the name of a person completely uninvolved in the violation. If an error is discovered in the data, you must immediately contact the traffic police or court. In such situations, appealing the decision will not require much effort.

It is important to consider: a violation filmed on a regular camera will not be considered in court. Now, in order to hold drivers accountable, a traffic inspector must be guided by materials filmed with professional equipment.

In the event of a stop, the driver can request from the inspector a demonstration of the camera, which contains confirmation of guilt. If the equipment is damaged in any way or has a broken seal, the prosecution will have no formal evidence.

Penalty for crossing double solid

It is forbidden to cross a solid line of road markings, double or single, - every motorist is familiar with this axiom, because such a violation of traffic rules faces a fairly significant fine.

At the same time, the situation of crossing continuous markings on the road is not always resolved by administrative decree: the law provides for several cases when liability does not arise at all. Let's turn to the legislation regulating road traffic and try to figure out when a fine or even deprivation of rights is inevitable, and in what cases the driver crossed the line without violating the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation.

Crossed a continuous line - lost my license

The Road Traffic Rules contain provisions defining the meaning of the term “double solid”. According to traffic regulations, this is a line that delimits four-lane (or, alternatively, six-lane) traffic, separating two opposite road directions from each other. From the interpretation it is clear that violating the demarcation, that is, essentially driving onto the oncoming road, most likely results in collisions between cars and, as a result, casualties. Therefore, crossing a continuous marking line is strictly prohibited.

Typically, violations of this kind occur when overtaking. One of the punishments that can be imposed on an overtaking violator is the deprivation of a driver's license.

  • So, if you entered the oncoming lane through a double line, then you may be given a fine (5 thousand rubles),
  • So is deprivation of rights (from 4 months to six months).

Let us remind you that a traffic police officer does not have the right to confiscate your license on the spot; the driver himself must surrender his license after the court decision enters into legal force.

What can influence the choice of punishment?

According to practice, in most cases, when an offense under paragraph 4 of Art. 12.15 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation is committed for the first time, a monetary penalty is imposed. In those cases where the inspector has recorded repeated crossing of a double solid line, you can no longer get away with a fine: most likely, a decision will be made to deprive the driver of his license.

The law also directly provides for a situation where a driver, who has previously been punished for driving into oncoming traffic, again commits a similar violation. Then waiting for him:

  • withdrawal of rights for one year if the violation was noticed by a traffic police officer;
  • a fine of 5,000 rubles if the actions of a motorist became known through video recording.

By the way, when administrative liability arises based on information from external video surveillance cameras and photography, it should be remembered that the nuances of violations are not covered by the review. Thus, the camera may not recognize whether there was an obstacle or circumstances of extreme necessity, as a result of which the owner of the car receives notifications about the accrual of maximum fines. If you know for sure that you are not actually the violator (for example, you drove around the accident and only crossed a continuous road), then within 10 days you should appeal the “chain letter” by presenting your evidence.

Turning around and crossing lanes

  • If the driver turns the car around and at the same time crosses a double solid line, then he will face a fine of 1,000 to 1,500 rubles.
  • In practice, traffic police officers often initiate deprivation of driving license for any crossing of a double continuous line, even when the law only provides for a fine.

Thus, in practice, there are cases when, when making a U-turn (similarly, when turning left) through a double line, the driver drove several meters in the oncoming lane, which is grounds for deprivation of a driver’s license. At the same time, sometimes the driver actually made a U-turn through solid markings, but at the same time captured a little more of the road space - the situation is controversial; the court decides that it should be considered grounds for deprivation of a driver’s license or just a fine. The decisive factors in such controversial issues will be the video recording materials provided (both personal, on the flash storage of the DVR, and those taken by external cameras).

When turning, you must follow the signs that allow such maneuvers. Thus, the ability to turn a car around is provided by road signs both in a specific place and in a place indicating a certain distance to it. The markings are of secondary importance, so you cannot focus only on them when moving.

It's hard to see the solid

In addition, if a solid line on the road has practically disappeared and looks like a broken line that is difficult to see, then the law is on the side of the driver, who is recommended to record the condition of the dividing line with a photo camera and, if necessary, subsequently submit it to court. In most cases, poor visibility of a double solid line is a circumstance that mitigates liability, and sometimes is decisive when choosing alternative punishments (deprivation of rights and a fine).

Intersection when overtaking

The driver overtaking a car deserves attention when the end of the action falls on a double solid line, while the beginning of overtaking took place in the absence of a continuous line. The motorist can be recommended to provide his evidence excluding his guilt, that is, confirmation that overtaking was initially started on a section of the road where there is no solid line.

In such a situation, you can refer to clause. 11.4 Traffic Regulations, which clearly states the need to complete your maneuver. This article of the Traffic Rules can be cited not only in a complaint against the actions of traffic police officers, but also made a note in the protocol of an administrative offense: I do not agree with bringing to administrative responsibility, since according to subsection. 11.4 of the Law, I completed overtaking, which began on a road with intermittent markings.

Leaving the parking lot

Punishment in the form of a simple warning or a small (500 rubles) fine is provided for crossing a double continuous line when leaving a parking lot, gas station, etc.

Hitting a line with a wheel

A frequent violation that comes to the attention of traffic police officers is hitting a line with a wheel, which forms an offense called “violation of the location of a vehicle on a marked roadway.” The culprit may be fined 1,500 rubles.

Controversial situations on the road

Quite often on the road, disputes arise about whether the driver crossed a double line forcibly. If this is true, then he is not subject to punishment. So, it often happens that:

It is impossible to go around any obstacle on the right

It could be anything: a stone, an abandoned car, a load, a fallen tree, etc. If it is objectively impossible to pass on the right, the driver does not face any liability at all: the driver’s lawful actions imply waiting for oncoming traffic to pass and carefully driving around obstacle through continuous markings, return to your lane.

If it is determined that it was possible to drive through, the driver becomes obligated to pay a fine. In addition, traffic jams, traffic jams, stopped cars, the drivers of which did not violate the traffic rules by their actions, are not an obstacle, even if it was not possible to bypass on the right.

You drove into the oncoming lane to prevent an accident

In this case, it is necessary to refer to Art. 2.7 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation and prove that the driver’s actions fully fell under the concept of “extreme necessity.” This means that there was no other way to avoid the danger. If the given arguments and established circumstances really correspond to extreme necessity, liability is excluded.

If you turn around through a double lane and at the same time leave the adjacent area, then the traffic police officer can fine you and assign a fine from 1000 rubles to 1500 rubles (turn) or 500 rubles.

Since you have committed a serious violation, the suspension of your driver's license is more likely to occur. The violation you described falls under the elements of an administrative offense under Part 4 of Art. 12.15 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, where punishment can be in the form of imprisonment for up to 6 months.

Of course, under such circumstances it will be difficult to achieve a fine. At the court hearing, it is necessary to explain about poor visibility, after which the court may decide to impose a fine of 5,000 rubles.

At the court hearing to which you will be summoned, a decision will be made to impose a fine (probably in the amount of 500 rubles), after which it will need to be paid according to the details that can be found at the district FSSP.

What is the penalty for single and double solid lines: crossing, turning and turning?

Through double solid

The marking lines we are discussing are, respectively, 2 of its types, officially numbered in the traffic rules: 1.1 - single solid line and 1.3 - double solid line. Both of them are prohibited from crossing. But the specific fine for crossing a single or double continuous line in 2019 depends on the specific maneuver being performed: simply crossing when changing lanes, overtaking, making a U-turn, or turning right or left.

Where is single and double solid used?

So, single solid is used in the following cases:

  • to divide the road into traffic lanes, changing lanes while crossing a single continuous line is prohibited;
  • to separate oncoming traffic flows, but only if the road is two-lane, and the width of each lane is no more than 3.75 meters - crossing such a single continuous line is also prohibited;
  • to mark the boundaries of parking spaces;
  • to separate any other sections of the road that cannot be driven onto.

A double solid line is used only in two cases:

  • to separate oncoming traffic flows if there are 4 or more lanes on the road;
  • to separate oncoming traffic flows if the number of lanes is less than 4, but the width of each is more than 3.75 meters.

But the most important thing is that the penalty for a double solid line is no more than for a single line if it is used for one purpose (for example, to separate oncoming flows). The opinion of some car enthusiasts that a double solid car is “more expensive” than a single car, simply because the first one is double – this is a myth.

But there is another continuous marking - single, it marks the edge of the roadway and is designated by number 1.2 in the traffic rules. It is slightly wider than the usual solid 1.1 according to GOST, and this is the only solid road in the Rules that is allowed to be crossed (to pull over to the side of the road).

What is the penalty for crossing a single or double solid line?

And so we got to the most unexpected thing - there is no fine for crossing a solid marking line as of 2019. There is a penalty for a specific maneuver associated with such an intersection. Another important subtlety: penalties for these maneuvers do not depend on the number of solid lines. And there can be 4 such maneuvers:

  • turn left through a single or double solid lane,
  • turning through this marking,
  • overtaking by driving into the oncoming lane,
  • avoiding obstacles and entering oncoming traffic.

Sanctions for the first three points include a fine, but for overtaking - another and more severe - up to deprivation of rights. And we will start from the last point.

Penalty for driving into the oncoming lane when overtaking

If you overtook or for other reasons drove into oncoming traffic (including oncoming tram tracks) through a single or double continuous lane, in addition to avoiding an obstacle, then you will be subject to a preventive measure under Part 4 of Article 12.15 of the Administrative Code:

4. Driving, in violation of the Traffic Rules, onto a lane intended for oncoming traffic, or onto tram tracks in the opposite direction, except for the cases provided for in Part 3 of this article, shall entail the imposition of an administrative fine in the amount of five thousand rubles or deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period from four to six months .

As you can see, we are talking here about any driving into oncoming traffic in violation of traffic rules - that is, moving in a certain direction, being to the left of the continuous lane, in the oncoming lane.

We discussed in a separate article in which cases a fine is imposed and in which there is deprivation.

Moreover, this violation also has repetition. If you have already been prosecuted under this part of this article of the Administrative Code earlier, and less than a year has passed since the return of your rights or full payment of the fine, then you will already be prosecuted under Part 5 of Article 12.15 of the Administrative Code, which provides for a fine only if the violation was recorded on camera. And if you are caught by an inspector on the road, then you face deprivation of your license for 1 year.

If the departure was made through an intermittent one, and then a continuous one began

In this case, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, in one of its decisions back in 2013, explained that any location to the left of the solid line constitutes a crime under Part 4 of Article 12.15 of the Code of Administrative Offences, since otherwise such a location of the vehicle is not consistent with the Federal Law “On Road Traffic Safety” , prescribing the right-hand traffic organization in Russia.

And in July 2017, corresponding changes were made to the traffic rules, clause 9.1(1), which prohibits the location of cars to the left of the continuous line.

Thus, if at any time you were to the left of a solid line - single or double, then you can lose your rights for such a position.

Crossing a solid road to avoid obstacles

Traffic regulations prohibit in all cases crossing a solid marking line to avoid an obstacle. That is, the paradox is that if you simply hit an obstacle on such a section of the road, and reversing is prohibited, then in any case you will be forced to violate it. But in this case there will not be a fine according to the law, because a mandatory component for the possibility of punishment is the fault of the person charged. And it won’t be your fault.

Thus, when driving around an obstacle through a single or double solid marking, two sanctions are possible:

  • a fine of 500 rubles if you changed lanes across a single continuous lane (Part 1 of Article 12.16 of the Administrative Code),
  • a fine of 1000-1500 rubles if you drove around an obstacle by crossing a single or double continuous road and driving into oncoming traffic (Part 3 of Article 12.15 of the Administrative Code).

Keep in mind an important subtlety - an obstacle has a clear definition of traffic rules, and such is a faulty or otherwise forcedly stopped vehicle. The obstacle is not a car that has stopped according to traffic regulations:

  • bus at the stop,
  • car at a traffic light and others.

An obstacle is a stationary object in a traffic lane (a faulty or damaged vehicle, a defect in the roadway, foreign objects, etc.) that does not allow further movement along this lane.
A traffic jam or a vehicle stopped in this lane in accordance with traffic regulations is not an obstacle.

The fine for hitting or crossing a double line

Crossing a double solid line is a serious offense resulting in a heavy fine or loss of license (driver's license). Such a maneuver seems to be a dangerous action, and this type of marking is depicted on special sections of the road for the safe movement of all its participants.

Turning to the Rules of the Road, the wording “double solid” is interpreted as a line demarcating oncoming directions of traffic on four- or six-lane roads. Solid lines refer to the horizontal type of marking. The traffic rules describe the following types:

  • A solid line 1.1 separates oncoming directions and is drawn in the middle of the road. Crossing and driving over it is strictly prohibited.
  • Double solid 1.3 separates oncoming traffic on roads whose width is more than 3.75 m. There are four-, three-, and two-lane. Crossing these lines is punishable.
  • Dividing strip 1.3 is not a marking; it is much wider than the previous one, but movement on it is prohibited. Failure to comply with this rule will result in the motorist losing the right to drive the vehicle.
  • Dividing lines in parking areas are similar in appearance to type 1.3 markings, but they are not. No fine is expected.

Violations may be recorded by city cameras and video cameras, so a maximum fine should be expected. However, they do not cover the nuances and causes of offenses. If the driver of the vehicle has evidence of innocence, then the decision can be appealed within 10 days.

Only a traffic police officer has the right to deprive a driver of the right to drive a vehicle when drawing up a protocol that detained the offender.

It can be noted that in addition to the markings, you need to focus on road signs that do not prohibit certain maneuvers.

It is strictly prohibited to cross solid lines in specific areas:

  • bridges;
  • from poor visibility;
  • intersections;
  • tunnels;
  • when maneuvering ahead of moving vehicles that create obstacles and difficulties for movement;
  • where returning back to the runway is not possible.

How much is the fine

Any maneuver not provided for by traffic rules will constitute an administrative offense. It should be noted that a person driving on a double solid for the first time will likely only be fined, with some exceptions.

The table discusses the prevailing violations and penalties for them, guided by the Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Offenses.

Crossing a solid and double solid marking line - fines in 2019

The penalty for crossing a solid or double solid line marking covers almost the entire range of liability for traffic violations and can range from a warning to deprivation of a driver’s license for 1 year , depending on the circumstances of the violation.

We will consider these circumstances on their merits, so that in the event of crossing a continuous marking you know the correct classification of the offense.

Remember, double solid or single - this does not affect the amount of the fine .

Fine 5,000 rubles or deprivation of rights

Driving, in violation of the Traffic Rules, onto a lane intended for oncoming traffic, or onto tram tracks in the opposite direction, except for the cases provided for in Part 3 of this article,
shall entail the imposition of an administrative fine in the amount of five thousand rubles or deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of from four to six months .

This is the punishment you will receive:

Crossing a solid road when overtaking

When going around a traffic jam.

Crossing a solid road while avoiding a traffic jam

When driving in the oncoming lane before turning left.

Crossing a solid road before turning left

And even if you crossed a solid line by accident. The fine in this case will be legal under Part 4 of Article 12.15. This can happen on narrow bends in the road.

Crossing a solid road at a bend

Formally, the vehicle entered the oncoming lane. In this case, there are grounds to declare the violation to be insignificant and refer to Article 2.9 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation.

If the administrative offense committed is of minor significance, the judge, body, or official authorized to resolve the case of an administrative offense may release the person who committed the administrative offense from administrative liability and limit himself to an oral remark.

But this is only the right of the inspector and he determines insignificance subjectively. If the issue is already being resolved in court, you can file a petition for release from administrative liability.

Deprivation of rights for 1 year

If the above violations are committed repeatedly within one year, then a deprivation of rights for 1 year is provided. Only automatic recording of violations can save you from deprivation. Part 5 of Article 12.15 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation.

Repeated commission of an administrative offense provided for in Part 4 of this article -
entails deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of one year , and in the case of recording an administrative offense using special technical means operating automatically, having the functions of photography, filming, video recording, or photographic means. and filming, video recording - imposition of an administrative fine in the amount of five thousand rubles.

Fine from 1000 to 1500 rubles

A fine for driving around an obstacle in the oncoming lane will be fined from 1000 to 1500 rubles.

Driving, in violation of the Traffic Rules, onto a lane intended for oncoming traffic when going around an obstacle, or onto tram tracks in the opposite direction when going around an obstacle -
entails the imposition of an administrative fine in the amount of one thousand to one thousand five hundred rubles .

Please note that the rule - “You are allowed to go around an obstacle in the oncoming lane on the left if it is not possible to go around on the right” - does not exist. But such a detour is defended by Article 2.7 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation.

It is not an administrative offense for a person to cause harm to legally protected interests in a state of extreme necessity, that is, to eliminate a danger that directly threatens the personality and rights of a given person or other persons, as well as the legally protected interests of society or the state, if this danger could not be eliminated by other means. and if the harm caused is less significant than the harm prevented.

Crossing a solid road while avoiding an obstacle

For example, driving around in an empty oncoming lane is less safe than driving on a sidewalk with people.

Staying on the road and waiting for the obstacle to clear will make the situation even worse, since there will already be two obstacles. That is why such an unspoken rule appeared - that you can drive around in the oncoming lane if there is no other option.

Thus, avoiding an obstacle through a solid or double solid line in the oncoming lane is a violation of the Traffic Rules, but is not always an administrative offense .

If a road sign “Avoid obstacles” is installed or traffic is regulated by police officers or road maintenance workers (they are, by definition, traffic controllers), then there will be no violation of the Traffic Rules. As you know, in the event of a conflict, traffic controller signals have the highest priority, then road signs, and only third is road markings.

The requirements of the road sign contradict the requirements of the markings

Also, a fine of 1000 to 1500 rubles can be received when turning left or making a U-turn under Part 2 of Article 12.16 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation.

Turning left or making a U-turn in violation of the requirements prescribed by road signs or road markings -
entails the imposition of an administrative fine in the amount of one thousand to one thousand five hundred rubles .

Turn left from a road on which there is a dividing solid or double solid line marking.

Crossing a solid road when turning left

Turn left onto a road marked with a solid or double solid line.

Crossing a solid road when turning left

Turn through a solid or double solid line.

U-turn through a solid line

Warning or fine 500 rubles

In all other cases, for crossing a solid marking line, minimum liability is provided in the form of a warning or a fine of 500 rubles under Part 1 of Article 12.16 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation.

1. Failure to comply with the requirements prescribed by road signs or markings of the roadway, with the exception of cases provided for in parts 2 - 7 of this article and other articles of this chapter,
shall entail a warning or the imposition of an administrative fine in the amount of five hundred rubles .

Many drivers do not even notice such violations, because today there is a very low probability that they will be fined for them.
