The most expensive road accident in the world
The most expensive accident in the world. Photo
Super expensive, super fast, supercars - but they are also cars. And like all decent cars, they can and do get into accidents.
But the situations in which these cars are involved in an accident are hard to believe. We bring to your attention a selection of the most expensive road accidents involving supercars!
In 2011, 14 cars met on a wet Japanese road, nine of which were supercars. They “were” because After the accident, restoring them was very problematic.
As many as eight Ferrari models (including Testarossa), one Lamborghini Diablo and the most ordinary, simple ones were counted in the accident. Nissan Skyline R33, three Mercedes-Benz and Toyota Prius. The total damage was $3.85 million. Somehow modestly. Don't you think so?
This incident was cheaper. Just $1.5 million for the girl’s inattention. By the way, the accident occurred again in 2011, but in Monaco, and the Ukrainian singer Margarita Smelyanskaya-Galitskaya was driving. Who is this?
The Ukrainian was driving a Bentley. And the list of participants in road accidents was supplemented by Porsche 911 Turbo, Bentley Azure, Aston Martin Rapide, Mercedes S-Class, Ferrari F430
One of the most famous supercar crashes happened in the Gulf of Mexico Lagoon. In 2009, a Bugatti Veyron drowned in a lagoon in the Gulf of Mexico. The owner, Texan Andy House (not a doctor), demanded double the cost of the hypercar from the insurance company. Shelmets later almost ended up in jail himself, because... It turned out that he deliberately drowned the car for insurance.
Did you know that Mr. Bean owns a McLaren F1? No? This is true. Rowan Atkinson and his McLaren F1 crashed twice. At the same time, Bean managed to make good money on insurance. The last time he received 910 thousand pounds ($1.5 million). And he immediately sold the restored McLaren F1 for $12 million. Just like that!
This year in the UK, two more unique cars from the 50s were wrecked: the Lister-Jaguar Knobbly and the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLS “Porter Special”. Damage: $7.5 million.
Behind the wheel of the Mercedes was the famous German driver Jochen Mass, who was unable to get around the sharply braked Briton Tony Wood in a Lister-Jaguar.
The most offensive accident story happened with an American, David Dopp. A truck driver won a mind-blowing Lamborghini Murcielago in a competition and crashed the car. during the first trip.
Six hours of joy - that’s how long the supercar lasted in Dopp’s hands. The driver assured everyone that he was not driving fast, and the ice and gravel under the wheels were to blame. Lies.
The accident occurred in Shanghai. And behind the steering wheel was a young and rich pilot. The boy himself remained intact, but the car. You can see for yourself.
Another Ferrari. The 250 GT Spyder, purchased back in 2008 for $11 million, collided. with a hurricane. As you can see, the elements won. It was in this condition that he was found on one of the California beaches.
In 2009, Moscow distinguished itself. Bugatti EB110 SS. injured at Bavaria Moscow City Racing right in the city center.
This was the only Bugatti EB110 SS in Russia. An irreparable loss worth $2 million.
The most egregious accident was in Italy. The powerful, handsome 670-horsepower Ferrari 599 GTO was driven by... a simple parking attendant. Not "The Bearded Man" of course, though.
38-year-old Roberto Quinti inexplicably managed to “park” in a store across the street from the parking lot.
Kinty's unfortunate brother, bodyguard Andy Danso, crashed his boss's Pagani Zonda.
Andy attributed the accident to "accidentally pressing the accelerator while adjusting the seat." I wonder if what they did to him after was also explained by chance?

Where did the most expensive accident in the world occur?
Cars, like their owners, are very different. Very often both of them get into accidents. Not all of them, of course, but it happens. Various accidents with ordinary cars will definitely not interest you, so we bring to your attention a short review of the most expensive car accidents in the world.
This small kingdom is literally filled to the brim with expensive cars and rich drivers. However, everyone was outdone by the daughter of the chairman of the employment service in Ukraine, Galitsky. It is not known where the 24-year-old girl got such a car - or someone’s expensive gift for her daughter, or Margarita Smelyanskaya-Galitskaya made several successful bets in Monte Carlo. The accident that Margo caused in 2011 is still remembered in the kingdom.
Most likely, the fair-haired representative of the fairer sex confused two pedals located in the floor of the Bentley car, the cost of which before the accident was 500 thousand dollars. As a result of a fatal mistake (or due to her assertive nature), Margarita was able to combine an impressive set of incompatible objects into one whole:
- "Bentley" (driven by Margarita);
- "Aston Martin";
- "Mercedes";
- Ferrari;
- "Porsche".
We must give the girl credit - between the crowd of people and expensive cars, she chose the latter. The insurance company involved in this case subsequently confirmed the technical problems of the car, because of which the girl became famous throughout the world. As a result, the world's most expensive accident did not harm anyone (except the insurance company) and confirmed that women are much more humane and kinder than they sometimes seem.
USA, California
Another accident, included in the top 10 most expensive accidents in the world, occurred in the USA. Shortly before the incident, the car was purchased at an auction in England for $10 million. While walking along the Californian coast in his Ferrari 250 GT Spyder, the owner parked very poorly near one of the beaches. While the owner of the luxury car was minding his own business, a short hurricane hit the coast, during which one of the most expensive cars in the world was badly damaged.
The Land of the Rising Sun was also the site of another of the world's most expensive accidents. Moving along the highway at high speed, the drivers of a Lamborghini, eight Ferraris and three Mercedes were so caught up in the competition that they forgot about the ordinary motorists around them moving along the autobahn in the same direction. A large truck ahead forced the race leader to press the brake pedal, which was unusual for him.
A collision with a truck was avoided, but the millionaire friends, unable to react and brake in time, used each other’s cars for emergency braking.
As a result of a group accident of expensive cars with a total value of more than £5.5 million, traffic on the highway was paralyzed for several hours. The most important thing in this story is that, despite the large losses for insurance companies, the people driving expensive cars were not seriously injured.
A ride in a Ferrari 250 GTO ended tragically for its British owner. The car was bought at auction for a record amount of 28 and a half million dollars. While driving on a busy highway, the driver did not calculate the speed and flew at high speed into a car moving in the same direction. This is by far the most expensive accident in the world.
The classic racing car, built between 1962 and 1964, is not designed to handle modern highways. Cars of this class and this price usually sit in expensive collectors' garages; they are occasionally taken to exhibitions and shows (and this usually happens not under their own power, but in special vans). Why the car owner risked driving out onto the road that day remains an unsolved mystery.
Mr. Bean
The famous English comedian Rowan Atkinson is the owner of a McLaren F1 sports car.
While taking another walk in a prestigious car, which was worth $1,250,000 before the accident, the world-famous comedian collided with a tree. The incident occurred in Cambridgeshire, in the small town of Peterborough. It is characteristic that this is not the first exclusive car that Atkinson crashed.
Before this, he already had several wrecked cars, including an Aston Martin.
Only 15 Pagani Zonda C 12 S cars were produced in the world. This sports car is capable of reaching speeds of over 200 miles per hour. Early in the morning the owner was returning from a car race. On the autobahn, a truck did not give way to him, pushing him into the right lane where parked cars were parked.
Now there is one less Zonda on the planet - after the collision, the car could not be restored. This is not the most expensive accident in the world. Although the cost of the Pagani Zonda collectible model was 700 thousand pounds.
These are not all the incidents included in the top 10 most expensive accidents in the world. The observer is constantly aware of events in the automotive environment of elite vehicles, tracking high-profile incidents.
Unfortunately, sooner or later the list of premium cars that have been involved in accidents will certainly be replenished. Let's hope that only cars are affected.
Million dollar hit: the most expensive accident in the world
Every year, tens of thousands of people around the world die in road accidents. The public organization World Life Expectancy collects statistics from around the world and analyzes the current situation. According to its data, the problem is extremely acute in a number of countries in Latin America, Africa, and Asia. The percentage of deaths on roads in Russia is high.
Let's look at the largest and most expensive accidents that have happened in the world, let's talk about the causes and consequences. Disasters like this always make it into the news.
Global road fatality statistics for 2019
Worst transport accidents in the world
Experts say that to improve the situation on the roads, it is necessary to change legislation, analyze situations on dangerous sections of highways, and work with the population.
Massive vehicle collision in UAE
In March 2008, 127 cars collided simultaneously on the strip between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The reason for this was thick fog, visibility was 1-1.5 meters. The collision occurred in the morning, 270 people were injured and 3 were killed. As a result of the accident, several cars caught fire.
When the fog cleared, tow trucks began to pick up cars and clear the road.
Thick fogs are not uncommon in the United Arab Emirates. They happen several times a year; in some cases, airports stop accepting flights. The highway between the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi is the busiest; the length of the convoy of cars involved in the accident was half a kilometer. Dozens of cars went to the dump.
Bus crashes into irrigation canal in Egypt
The worst traffic accident in Egypt in recent years occurred in December 2008. A bus filled with passengers was traveling from El Minya to Beni Sueif and nearly collided with a truck near Cairo. To avoid a collision, the bus driver sharply turned the steering wheel, and the bus fell into an irrigation canal.
Of the 70 passengers, 58 died. Witnesses of the accident claim that the bus driver was speeding. Each family in which a person died received $2,000, and another $600 was paid from the budget to the victims. After the disaster, the Egyptian authorities increased fines for violating traffic rules, but the number of accidents on the roads has not decreased since then.
Tennessee Massacre
One of the worst transport accidents in the world occurred in the USA in 2002. 125 vehicles took part in it, most of which were unable to avoid a collision due to the inattention of drivers. Due to fog falling on a highway in Tennessee, two trucks traveling in the same direction collided. The latter was spun around upon impact, and other cars began to crash into it.
Footage of a massive accident in Tennessee
It is noteworthy that drivers from the other lane, which was fenced off by a barrier, also became involved in the accident. They simply did not watch the road, looking for an accident. Traffic on the highway was restored 2 days later.
The biggest transport accidents in Russia
The number of accidents in Russia is very high. Main causes of collisions:
- speeding and failure to follow rules in general;
- driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs;
- poor condition of roads;
- identified vehicle malfunctions.
Let's look at the largest accidents on Russian roads.
Accident involving a bus in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug
The first place is occupied by the disaster that shook the entire country at the end of 2016. A bus with students of the artistic gymnastics section was moving along the route between the cities of Tyumen and Khanty-Mansiysk. Later this circumstance raised many questions. A truck driving in the oncoming lane hit a vehicle with children, causing it to spin out and collide with another truck.
The tragic result: 11 children and their coach died in a terrible accident. Other passengers suffered burns and traumatic brain injuries. As a result of the investigation, it turned out that the drivers of the bus and the first truck were speeding on a snowy, icy road.
Road accident 2016 in Dagestan
On the Makhachkala-Astrakhan highway near the village of Talovka, a Kamaz cargo truck with a trailer and a passenger bus collided. The cause of the accident was a cargo trailer that became unfastened from the tractor and flew into the regular vehicle at high speed. Nine passengers died on the spot.
The person driving the Kamaz was convicted, and over 20 people were injured, including 4 children.
Car accident in South Ossetia
Not far from Tskhinvali there is a Russian guards military base, from where on May 19, 2016, a PAZ passenger bus departed as part of a convoy of equipment. The accident occurred due to a malfunction of the brake system. The vehicle flew off the road and, turning over several times, fell into the abyss.
A bus whose brakes failed
In addition to the driver, there were 22 officers in the cabin, six died, the rest were taken to the hospital with injuries.
Accident while overtaking on Terpilitsky highway, Leningrad region
The horrific accident in August 2016 received widespread attention because it was captured on a dash cam. The driver of the tenth Lada model received his license shortly before the incident. He was making a dangerous maneuver at high speed and, losing control, collided with a GAZelle.
The culprit of the accident died in the hospital, three passengers in his car flew onto the roadway and the side of the road, receiving additional injuries. They survived, as did the one who drove the GAZelle car.
Collision near Vologda 2007
On the road 150 kilometers from Vologda there was a head-on collision between two cars. Due to inertia, the Volkswagen car that was following the culprit of the accident also ended up in the impact zone. The nearest settlement, the village of Kaduy, could not accept seriously ill patients, so by the time the police and ambulance arrived, seven passengers were already dead. The cause of the accident was excessive speed. The driver of the Audi A4 was heading to the village in the company of friends. All of them were intoxicated.
Only the woman who drove the Volkswagen survived.
Collision on the M-5 federal highway in Bashkiria
This tragedy claimed the lives of 9 people; it occurred in the Iglinsky district on February 27, 2018. After the collision, a minibus carrying passengers and a MAN truck slid into a ditch and the bus overturned. 4 participants in the incident managed to survive.
The most expensive accident in Moscow
Accidents involving rare luxury cars are considered the most expensive accidents and often end up in the Guinness Book of Records. Such incidents also occurred in the history of Moscow.
"Golden" accident involving Lamborghini and Bentley
The total cost of all cars that collided in the center of the capital on September 17, 2018 is about 100 million rubles. The culprits in the incident were a yellow Lamborghini and an Audi A6. After the collision, the Lamborghini was thrown into expensive cars parked on Novy Arbat: Gelandewagen, Porsche Panamera, Bentley. As a result of the emergency, everyone survived, and a large traffic jam formed on the road.
To restore such a car, you will need a lot of money.
The reason is the supercar driver's speeding and violation of the rules by those who were driving the Audi A6.
Accidents of the most expensive cars in the world
Restoring a car after an accident is an expensive proposition, especially if it concerns a car worth several hundred thousand euros.
Bugatti EB110
This model is valued at approximately $500,000 and was crashed in Moscow in 2009 during the Bavaria Moscow City race with the participation of Formula 1 teams. There were 2 people inside the Bugatti, they were not injured. As a result, the car lost a wheel and the body was damaged.
Pagani Zonda C12 S
Over the years of car production, 206 Pagani Zonda S-segment units were produced. In November 2015, while driving an exclusive model in Monaco, British racer L. Hamilton crashed it. The accident occurred early in the morning; the owner himself subsequently said that he forgot about safety and walked in the club until the morning, which became the cause of the incident.
The same sports car before the accident
The driver was sober, he was driving a Pagani Zonda, which he ordered from the manufacturer “to suit himself”: in purple with a manual transmission. Losing control, Hamilton drove into a car parked on the side of the road, and the accident became the most expensive accident in Monaco.
It is noteworthy that a year later in Tokyo, the Pagani Zonda ZoZo supercar collided with a Maybach 62S. Repairs of expensive machines are carried out directly at the factory.
Mercedes Benz SL 300
A rare black Mercedes Benz SL 300 Gullwing worth $650,000 crashed into a BMW at high speed. The incident occurred in Tuscany in 2014 during a vintage car race. The injuries received during the accident were not serious.
Footage from the scene of the accident
It is unknown how the BMW ended up on the country road. Repairing the German rarity cost the owner a significant amount of money.
Jaguar XJ220
One of the most expensive supercars was rarely involved in an accident at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England in 2000. The front part of the car was damaged, the repair of which cost the insurance company a tidy sum.
McLaren F1
The silver hypercar was specially brought from Australia to New Zealand to participate in the rally in honor of the creator of the brand, Bruce McLaren. As a result, having accelerated on the highway, the man sitting behind the wheel lost control and crashed into a pole.
Journalists who arrived at the scene were unable to see the damage due to the thick cover.
In 1997, an equally stupid incident occurred with the legendary car, when the mechanic who was repairing it decided to reach an unprecedented speed on Italian roads, which immediately led to an accident. The cost of fixing the McLaren F1 in both cases cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Ferrari Enzo
In 2008, American comedian Eddie Griffin crashed a rare Ferrari Enzo at a California race track. The car was valued at $1.5 million. The actor was unable to press the brake pedal in time and crashed into a concrete barrier. The mechanics' verdict is this: the car should be scrapped, since it cannot be restored.
A wrecked car with which the comedian later did a photo shoot
Bugatti Veyron
In 2013, in Moscow after the Autoexotica show, an expensive accident occurred in which a Bugatti Veyron and an Aston Martin DBS collided. The Bugatti's front end was seriously damaged, but the second supercar was not as badly damaged. It is noteworthy that the owners independently solved the problem and then sold the cars.
Ferrari 250 GT TDF
The rare 1959 model, valued at $1,650,000, competed in the historic Shell Ferrari-Maserati race in Stavelot, Belgium. At great speed, the Ferrari flew into the wall and crushed the front end. Unfortunately, this happens quite often on the tracks.
Yellow car before collision
Ferrari 250 GTO
The Ferrari 250 GTO is one of the rarest and most expensive cars in the world. Its owner, US millionaire Christopher Cox, went on that ill-fated morning to the Ferrari parade that he had dreamed of for so long. In the center of Paris, he got into an accident with two other cars, breaking the record for the cost of an accident for a single brand.
Bentley Azure
Until 2014, this high-profile incident that happened in Monte Carlo was considered the most expensive accident in the world and was even included in the Guinness Book of Records. Odessa resident Margarita, who has the stage name RI, crashed into parked expensive Aston Martin, Porsche, Ferrari, and Mercedes at low speed. Margot herself was driving a blue Bentley Azure convertible. The girl arrived in Monte Carlo to film the video; according to her, the transport repairs were covered by insurance companies. The media dubbed the singer “the blonde in a Bentley.”
In the Guinness Book of Records
The world's most expensive accident occurred on the highway between Hiroshima and Kyushu in Japan in 2014. Excessive speed and sudden actions by one of the drivers led to a car accident involving 14 cars. Among them:
The culprit of the incident was a lover of expensive cars in a Ferrari who lost control. The total cost of the accident exceeded US$5 million.
Big losses: the world's most expensive accidents
Expensive cars are always fast, comfortable and safe - this is what wealthy people demand from personal transport. However, the high cost does not always bring only benefits - for example, after an accident, such cars require a very long and expensive restoration. And, although their owners are protected from losses by insurance policies, this does not completely relieve them of all problems. An example of this is the most expensive accident in the world, which recently occurred in one of the most luxurious resort towns in Europe.
Accident in Monte Carlo involving a Bentley Azure
Recent history
The incident occurred in 2011 in Monte Carlo, near the most prestigious establishments of this small principality - the famous Monte Carlo casino and the fashionable Hotel De Paris. The girl, driving a sky-blue Bentley Azure convertible, was going to visit a gambling establishment and was already planning to drive into its parking lot. According to eyewitnesses, the young lady stopped, looked at her feet, tried to orient herself for about 15 seconds, and then pressed the gas, apparently missing the brake pedal. The luxury car rushed forward and finally entered the parking lot, but rammed the cars standing there, stopping only on the fourth one.
There were no budget cars among the victims, which is quite logical - it would be strange to see a Renault Logan or Volkswagen Polo next to the most expensive casino in Europe. The Aston Martin Rapide standing at the edge, valued by insurers at $220 thousand, was the most damaged. The Ferrari F430 ($270 thousand), Mercedes S500 and Porsche 911 (both $95 thousand) were also significantly damaged. The cost of the Bentley at fault is 383 thousand dollars - as a result - the most expensive accident in the 21st century. Details have not been disclosed, but you can be sure that the amount will exceed a million dollars, since car owners may also be charged for moral damages as a result of publicity of their names and damage to property.
Other precedents
The most expensive accident in Monte Carlo can be considered as such only in Europe - in other countries there have already been cases in which premium cars of even greater value were involved. Thus, on a highway near the Japanese city of Shimonoseki, a unique accident occurred, which involved 12 supercars (most of them Ferrari), as well as two simpler cars. Participants in the accident, belonging to the motorsport club, gave completely different testimony - some say that it was all the fault of the Mercedes, which overtook without following the rules and caused a very serious collision, and others say that the Mercedes was pushed out of its lane by one of the Ferraris. Be that as it may, the accident caused the highway to be closed for 6 hours, during which vehicle debris was removed from the road, and the total amount of damage, calculated by insurance organizations, was $1.5 million.
However, it is not at all necessary to crash several cars at once in order to receive damage exceeding a million dollars - after all, exclusive or antique vehicles may well be involved in an accident. This happened to the owner of the rarest Ferrari in the world - 250GTO, which was purchased for $28.5 million. After buying a car at an auction, he decided to take his exclusive car on public roads. The car driving ahead suddenly braked, and the driver did not have time to react - as a result, an accident costing several million dollars and many more years of painstaking restoration of the rarity by professional restorers.
And you don’t even have to have an accident to suffer a huge loss. The owner of a unique Ferrari 250 Spyder coupe decided to park near the beach and have a great rest. But a hurricane that hit completely unexpectedly covered the car with sand and severely damaged its body. When the car was dug up, it turned out that it was completely beyond repair. Insurance reimbursed the owner for $11 million spent on the car - but where can you get another one?
There are people who get into accidents with exclusive cars... during racing! Thus, in 2003, the traditional rally sponsored by Shell, which brings together owners of rare Ferraris and Maseratis, was overshadowed by an unpleasant event - a Ferrari 250 GTO TDF, created in 1959, flew over the fence and rammed a concrete wall. The result was damage that required $1.65 million to repair.
Modern exclusives
Accidents on modern cars are also estimated at a huge amount. The owner of the Bugatti Veyron SuperSport decided to take a ride in rainy weather, completely not calculating that the car's wide tires were highly susceptible to hydroplaning. Having accelerated to 160 km/h, he lost control and left the road, severely damaging the front of the car. It is also worth remembering the case when the Bugatti driver also suddenly lost control and crashed and went off the road - however, on his way there was not a roadside landing, but a lake in which the car stopped.
The record holder for accidents among expensive cars is the Ferrari Enzo, which is valued at approximately $1.3 million. A total of 14 cases of accidents were registered in which these hypercars were involved. Moreover, each time the cars were very seriously damaged or could not be restored at all. The reason is not difficult to understand if you remember the accident of Steven Ericsson, who was involved in an accident at a speed of 316 km/h.
Interesting Facts
Despite the enormous speeds that accompany accidents in exclusive expensive cars, their owners rarely suffer damage to their health. The reason for this is the use of high-tech security systems in such vehicles. In addition, they do not suffer too much financially, since the costs of restoration are usually covered by insurance. And if we are talking about Russia, then you can even use the “Non-Stop” insurance program, which protects the policy owner from persecution as a result of administrative offenses.
TOP most expensive car accidents
Car accidents, unfortunately, are not uncommon. In Russia alone, according to the traffic police, in January-September 2008, 156.7 thousand road traffic accidents (RTAs) were recorded on the country's roads! Imagine how many of them happen in the world! And every time after them, car owners have to sort things out with the traffic police, insurers and service stations.
But it happens that cars of exclusive models get into accidents, ones that not every millionaire can afford.
We bring to your attention the TOP most expensive car accidents. Look and cry!
10. Bugatti EB110 = $500,000
Imagine what awaits you next if in the last tenth place there is an accident with a car whose cost exceeds half a million dollars!
9. Pagani Zonda C12 S = $650,000
15 such exclusive Zonda C12 S cars were produced. However, the owner from Hong Kong failed to save this rare car - early in the morning he turned this beauty into a pile of scrap metal in an instant. It’s a pity, of course, but such is the life of iron horses...
8. Mercedes Benz SL 300 = $750,000
Experts consider the SL 300 “Gullwing” to be one of the best Mercedes in the history of this glorious company. This car is a classic! Unfortunately, several accidents involving these masterpieces of automotive engineering have already been recorded around the world. For example, this car was involved in an accident during the annual La Carrera Panamericana race in Mexico, in which only classic cars built before 1965 are allowed to participate.
But if in the first photo, as they say, who doesn’t take risks... then the guy in this photo was much less lucky - he was not even going to put his pet at risk by participating in any races. But danger found him in the form of a huge pickup truck owned by the state of Seattle. The funny thing is that on the side of the truck there was an inscription: “Impact Landscaping.”
7. Jaguar XJ220 = $1,000,000
Finally, the first accident for a full million American dollars, and only seventh place! The Jaguar XJ220 was once considered the fastest production car, capable of reaching speeds of 350 km/h (217 mph). But at this speed, accidents are simply inevitable. The photo of the owner of the supercar shows a classic pose, devoid of any emotions or feelings, staring blankly into space. It’s hard to say what he was thinking about at that moment... maybe he was looking for an explanation for the insurance company, or maybe for his wife, how he managed to break his beloved “pussy.”
6. McLaren F1 = $1,250,000
The McLaren F1 beats the XJ220 not only in price, but also in its top speed of over 370 km/h (231 mph). This fantastic figure for production cars was surpassed only in 2005. A total of 107 copies of this supercar were produced worldwide. And one of them is in the photo, broken by actor Rowan Atkinson, better known as Mr. Bean. By the way, before this, Atkinson had already become famous for managing to destroy several exclusive cars, including Aston Martin.
5. Enzo Ferrari = $1,300,000
Oddly enough, the champion in the number of accidents is the world famous Enzo Ferrari. Neither the price of these prestigious cars, nor their exclusivity and limited edition have any influence on the caution of their owners. There are at least 14 documented accidents in which Enzos were nearly smashed to pieces. The photo shows the result of one of the most famous accidents that occurred in 2005 in Malibu. Fat Steven Eriksson's car was involved in an accident at a speed of 315 km/h.
Not surprisingly, most of the accidents occurred in California and Dubai (pictured). Bad money means stupid owners... With all this, it should be noted that the Enzo Ferrari has proven itself to be an extremely safe car. For example, the photo shows the consequences of an accident at a speed of more than 250 km/h, after which the driver not only survived, but also suffered minimal consequences for his health.
4. Bugatti Veyron = $1,600,000
As you can see, the most expensive production car in the world, the Bugatti Veyron, did not make it into the top three of this hit parade! According to the manufacturers, only 300 of these beautiful cars are planned to be produced. Two cars from this list have already been damaged... The photo shows a poor car that was bought by its owner just a week ago and crashed at a speed of 160 km/h in rainy weather.
3. Ferrari 250 GT TDF = $1,650,000
So, ladies and gentlemen, we present to you the first three of our TOP. And, as you might guess, it’s full of rarities! Moreover, all of them are Ferraris. These cars are so rare and valuable that people who dare to take them on the road can be considered simply crazy. Well, those of them who decide to go on the track are even more crazy.
Photo of a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT "Tour de France" crashing into a wall at full speed during the 2003 Shell Ferrari-Maserati Historic Challenge.
2. Ferrari 250 GT SPYDER = $10,000,000
In 2008, at the California Spyder auction, a similar 1961 Ferrari 250 GT sold for $10,894,900! You're probably wondering, what happened to this masterpiece? Unfortunately for the owner, who parked the car near the beach, a hurricane suddenly hit... So, it’s not like an accident... and yet...
1. Ferrari 250 GTO = $28,500,000
And, finally, it is the most expensive accident in the world! And it is not surprising that it happened with the most expensive car in the world at the moment - the Ferrari 250 GTO of 1962-1964. In 2008, a 250 GTO was purchased at auction by an anonymous buyer from England for $28,500,000, which exceeds the cost of all 14 Enzo Ferraris described above! It seems simply incredible that the owner dared to drive such a car onto the road. As a result, a collision with the car in front after its sudden braking.
Good luck on the roads! 🙂
And don’t forget to insure your cars... comprehensive insurance or compulsory insurance, or something else...
